At last Lindsay Davenport is starting to show us what she is made of. She has got her fitness together, and with her pounding ground strokes she is starting to look like more than a match for anyone.
She has beaten Martina Hingis on their last four or five occasions I think it is, and seems to have won the mental battle, which took her so long to overcome. She simply did not have the self belief in herself, but since winning her first slam, she has started to believe and is reaping the dividends.
She has beaten all the major players this year, including Hingis, and recently brought Venus Williams' brilliant run to an end. Davenport has a very powerful serve with which she sets up most of her points, and from then on there is no looking back, as the forehand drive flies into the corner.
She is a very tough competitor and never rolls over, unlike some people on the WTA Tour. What I most admire though is the way taht she kept working at it until she achieved her goal- she was not blessed with a great touch, but with sheer hard work she has made it to the top.
Well done Lindsay!!!
