If you value your money and consider yourself something of a connoisseur, give Limelight-the 24 hour coffee shop/restaurant at Royal Orchid, Airport Road a miss.
The décor is a sad imitation of country outdoors, the cheap ply furniture and now heavily stained booths, probably some fledgling interior designers’ idea. The saving grace is the absolutely fetching outdoor seating area, perfect for a cool evening of quite conversation over a plate of this and that.
The food is your usual platter of middling vegetarian and thoroughly unforgivable non-vegetarian. The hot starters are measly in number (the usual tandoori paneer and chicken) and the main course equally sparing (the fish was so dry; we had to drink endless glasses of juice just to water our arid throats).
Admittedly the variety of meats (both red and white) in the non-vegetarian section was commendable but if most things taste like sawdust, does it count?
Hopefully the economic downturn is the reason for such apparent stinginess! The desserts too leave a lot to be desired especially for patrons with a raging sweet tooth.
For Rs. 300-500 on weekdays and weekends it’s definitely neither value for money nor a culinary journey. Go if the office expense account is ticking or the location so demands otherwise give this one a miss in favour of their place in manipal centre (at orchid harsha).
