The LG unveiled the rumored LG Optimus G pro yesterday in Japan. Though its international version has not been announced as yet, but is expected during next month’s MWC. As my title says, I think that this model was released in haste rather than a proper management decision mostly due to the Xperia Z’s release which may topple LG’ s market. The specs haven’t changed much from what I wrote in my blog two days ago. You’ll find the blog in the link given below. Anyways I’ve reviewed the specifications for all.

https://mouthshut.com/blog/cafcnnsmnm/The-LG-Optimus-G-pro-specs-leaked

Dimensions, look and feel – The device has rounded corners and for a change does not feel like slab when you hold it in your hand. Its 10 mm thick which is a lot thicker than the recently released Sony Xperia Z and weighs at 160 gms , that’s 20 grams heavier than the Xperia Z. LG could have done much better in this regard. The phone overall lacks the premium feel that the Nexus 4 has.

Display- The device has a 5 inch full HD IPS+ display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with a pixel density of 441 ppi. The screen has wonderful viewing angles and has improved since th Optimus G which is a good sign.

Processor-The device has a Snapdragon S4 processor clocking a 1.7 ghzan improvement from the Optimus G which features the 1.5 ghz Krait processor, but LG could have done better than that. I haven’t got details on the GPU as yet, but it seems like LG hasn’t changed the chipset.

Battery- The device has a 3100 mah battery which is a huge improvement from the 2100mah battery of its predecessor. This will you you a standby time of 600 hours which is impressive.

OS- The device carries Jellybean 4.1.2 out of the box but an upgrade to 4.2 is expected when the International version is unveiled. Lg’ s UI has improved vastly in the last year and it going to number 2 in the US market is testimony to this fact.

Memory- The device has an inbuilt memory of 32 GB and is expandable upto 64 GB using a micro SDX Card. It also has a RAM of 2 Gb and is much better in the benchmarks than the Optimus G.

Camera- The device has a 13MP rear camera and a 2.4 MP front camera both capable of 1080 p video recording and equipped with advanced BSI sensors for better lowlight performance. The camera is better than the Optimus G.

Price and Availability – The phone is already available in Japan but will be Internationally available only after the MWC and the pricing is not available as yet. But you can expect it to be somewhere around 38-40k , if at all it releases. Let’s keep our fingers crossed at the moment.

Verdict- Overall it has seen a significant improvement from the Optimus G. But will this phone move into the oblivion like the predecessor? Only time will tell.

Thanks and Regards,

SlightlyDrunk
