I had purchased this fridge on 15/08/2011 from Thane and we were very much satisfied with it as it comes with a double door and was frost free. A month back, the bottom storage compartment cooling reduced considerably and frost started developing in the freezer compartment. The company technician identified the issue that one of the heaters situated between the freezer has conked off and there is no way it could be repaired. The only solution was, the company would give us a replacement of a new fridge after deduction of some depreciation amount of the old fridge. I was told that the representative would get back to me but it did not happen. After calling them umpteen times I was told to choose a new model from the nearest LG showroom and inform them.
The whole issue is that the model I chose is costing Rs. 42, 240 which is 335 Litres, in comparison to the one I had earlier which costed me Rs. 26, 700 and the capacity was 368 Litres. I was shocked when I was told by the representative that I would be given only a discount of Rs. 4000 for the purchase of the new fridge after surrendering the old fridge. That means I will have to shell out Rs. 38, 240 if I have to buy a new fridge. My grievance is that if the company is not capable of repairing the fridge and resolve the issue, it is not my problem. The company should at least return 50% of the amount, in this case, it should be Rs. 13, 350.
I would caution all the members to be away from LG refrigerators till my issue is resolved. This model is a failure and the company has stopped manufacturing this model but what is the guarantee that their other models are fool proof? SO, BE CAUTIOUS.
