Value for Money:

There is no other phone in India which can match this one's features & price combination. Ofcourse the discounted price is courtesy Tata Indicom's Truepaid service.

I paid Rs.7500/- for the LG AD5235 clamshell handset which has got a 65K colour screen. I got 7 recharge vouchers worth Rs.330/- each, free with the handset. That brings the effective price down to Rs.5200/-. Tata Indicom's service itself is fantastic. But lets talk about the phone's features here.

The signal reception is much better than my earlier Kyocera Phantom handset. Voice quality too is decent, but not the best. The large screen is nice & is very useful while reading/writing sms or while surfing the internet or playing games.

The polyphonic ringtones are excellent and one may not need to download any ringtomes. I feel the buttons could have been better/larger. Overall the phone is pretty good and is unbeatable value for money & it looks very upmarket. But the biggest bonus is the quality of service provided by Tata Indicom.

The network is congestion free & the voice quality even in weak signal regions is fantastic.

10/03/2006:

Its been one year since I bought this handset. Over the past couple of months, some of the buttons have started malfunctioning, rather reduced their function. They need a firm press each time.

Also, as compared to my brother's Nokia 6585, the signal reception is weaker. At remote places where the network signal is weak, my LG 5235 fails to connect & if it connects, conversation is not possible. With the Nokia, its not so. The conversation is disturbance-free with the Nokia.

Rest everything is fine. The voice quality is great & battery performance is very good too.

Update on 21/04/06:

Its getting extremely difficult to use the phone. Atleast 5 buttons are not functioning any more. I have started avoiding the usage of the phone, except for receiving calls. Over the last one year, my opinion about the handset has changed from excellent to good to fair, and it seems like its gonna get worse. I will not recommend this phone to anyone else anymore. And this one does not come with a T-sim. So I cannot easily change the handset. These days all the latest CDMA phones are T-sim enabled. So I would suggest buying such phones.
