Let the right one in. Review on Let the Right One In Movie

I found the movie “Let the right one in” through one of my research searches for a horror movie and the ratings that came up for the movie on yahoo and imdb thrilled me.Actually its not the only thing that thrilled me; I admit it. I am crazy about horror movies. I have seen it all – from exorcist to Saw to Texas chain saw massacre. So when I read that the movie was about a vampire, I jumped at it. Oh!! I just love those vampires.

I expected th emovie to start with some blood chilling throat slitting action, but it started very slowly with a gory scene of a man hunting down a woman and draining her blood into a can. Then the story took a deviation as it showed Oscar, a twelve year old boy who was always bullied at school. He did not jave much friends and one day, he came to meet the girl next door; Eli who joins him most of the days.Eli lives with an old man, the man that was introduced at the beginning who always goes out and get the blood she needs back home while she never leaves the house and there is a pact that she may not hurt anyone.Her weird ways and tones startle him but Oscar develops a bond of friendship with her and she even helps him with the bullies. Oscar comes to know that she is a vampire who has stayed 12 for 200 years; but their relationship is unafffected by the finding which does nothing but strengthen the same. The boy learns to trust her and the name comes from the belief that the vampires are not allowed to enter a room without the permission of the owner of that house. It is a swedish movie Låt den rätte komma indubbed into English.

This is not a real horror movie, I mean its not the horror you expect it to be. Its more of a drama with a horror background. But its just a hint.Although IMDB refers to it as gory, I guess people who regularly see English horror movies would agree with me that it is not that much of Gore like silence of the lambs or Saw although its not a movie you might want your kid to watch with you.

The story is exceptional that I enjoyed it and loved the suspense. But many of the people may find it frustrating because this movie the way it moves doesn’t make you think that there is a suspense coming up. For one thing, there is nothing in the movie that keeps you asking yourself… “What is going to happen next?”It just tells a story and the beauty of the movie lies within the story.

One thing I couldn’t justify about this movie was the pace at which it moves which can be pretty slow sometimes.and sometimes the scenes make you think “Why should this scene be here?” but its altogether a good movie and will leave you feeling satisfied, if you get the climax of the movie; the theme of the movie correctly, something like deciphering the hidden perspective about the friendship between Eli and Oscar.

The girl who comes as Eli has got that weirs charm and most of the time succeeded in freaking me out. The story revolves around them and both of them were good in this movie. Seriously iwould rate the story five stars but not for the movie, so if you have time and if you have nothing to do, get hold of this movie… it might not disappoint you!!
