The Lenovo Vibe P1 and P1m has been launched recently. The review that follows will be in detail about the features of P1. Technical specifications can be searched and viewed in the World Wide Web.
Let me begin from the moment the Vibe P1 box was in my hand. The box contains your phone, a charger(Detachable cord), an OTG converter for charging other devices(will explain this later), a manual, a screen guard and a transparent back cover. The phone is a tad heavy the reason is it contains a huge battery, 4900 mAH. The phone supports only 2 nano-SIMs. The phone is available in only one colour, the front is black and the back is silver. It has a metallic back cover.
It features a Snapdragon615 Octacore processor. The screen is full HD(1080 x 1920 pixels). This makes watching videos and playing games a dream on this phone. The screen is ultra sensitive. You will feel as if you were thinking to click on this and voila it got clicked. It has a 5.5 inch screen.
Now let us talk about some of the features which are there. Let me walk through the features one by one.
Battery – The USP of the phone is the huge battery which it provides. The battery cannot be removed. It has a 4900 mAH battery, hence it is a little on the heavier side, but it isn’t uncomfortable to carry. Now let’s talk about the battery life. On a normal single SIM with data connectivity turned on, the phone would not require charge for 36 to 48 hours based on normal usage. There is also a small button on the side, which when pulled up stops all the processes and just lets you call and message. This feature lets you use the phone up to 80 hours if it’s on a full charge. And ladies and gentlemen that isn’t all, the phone also gives you fast charging, which means that this huge battery can be charged within 90 minutes from 0 to 100.
Phone Speaker – The speaker is awesomely loud and clear. I was actually amazed, since most smart phones do not have loud speakers and I have sometimes missed a few calls, but this phone would not let you miss your call. Hence I would warn you to please put the phone on silent mode before you enter into a movie hall or a meeting.
The Screen – As I have already mentioned this is a full HD screen with ultra touch sensitivity. I would advise people to keep the brightness on Auto mode as this will help the device to conserve the battery(not that you need to). The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3
LED Indicator – There is an LED indicator present on the top right hand corner of the screen. The RED LED lights up when the phone is being charged. The BLUE LED lights up when you have missed calls, messages or any other notifications active on your phone. The Green LED indicates that your phone has been fully charged
Fingerprint reader - At this price, no one expects a fingerprint reader, but hey this phone gives you one. You can store two fingerprints in here(one for you and one for your girlfriend;). The fingerprint reader works really well and mostly the device would unlock with your fingers only
Camera – The camera is pretty decent. It features a 13mp primary camera and a 5mp secondary camera. If you want really awesome photos, I would suggest not buying this phone. The camera has 3 modes, Normal, Panorama and effects mode. The normal mode has a shortcut button for HDR photos as well.
Battery saver option – There is an additional battery saver option other than the button on the left side. This mode helps to conserve battery while still working in android environment. This mode will reduce your device performance, limits vibration and background data, which means it, will not receive emails instantaneously. You would have to open the app to make it download your emails. Please remember that this mode is different from the power saver button. The power saver button when turned on will only let you make calls and send messages.
Background app management – This is also one hugely important feature. Do you know why smart phones have less battery life when data is turned on? The main reason is that all the installed apps start using data. Now with this feature you can restrict the apps from doing that. This would help you save battery in the long run. For e.g. if you have subway surfer installed, would you want it to use data all the time? With this feature you can actually stop that from happening.
Storage – the phone boasts of a whooping 32 GBs of internal storage. But it really gives you around 20 GBs of usable storage, since the remaining part is occupied by the system apps and OS. It also has an SD card slot with the help of which you can also expand it to 128 GBs
Android Version – the phone features the Lollipop version
RAM – This has a 2GB RAM, which means that this can run multiple applications seamlessly. It can play a number of games without lagging
Heating – The phone gets heated up a bit during charging, but not much. During calls, it does not heat up
Secure Zone Feature – This feature lets you divide your phone into two zones. One zone is for normal use and the other zone is your secure zone. The secure zone allows you to select the apps which you want to see. This is really useful when your friend asks for the phone and you do not want to expose a few applications to him/her
Miscellaneous functions -
1. Double tapping the screen when the screen is off would light up the screen and show you if there are nay notifications.
2. The screen size can be reduced to perform actions with one hand with a small gesture.
3. There is a floating button, which has all sorts of shortcuts(I have seen this feature on the iPhone)
I got this phone as a gift from my fiancé. She got the hint when she saw me charging my phone thrice a day and now it really seems that I have one less task, which is charging my smart phone. Iwould recommend this to all the people out there who are really frustrated with the battery life of their phone. Close your eyes and buy this phone. At 15, 999 this is a steal.
