Lenovo Vibe K5 plus. hushhh, so long name. The name may not catch one's attention but, yes, the handset surely does physically. Lenovo has put much goody goody features in this handset that the one surely will not be able to stay away from owning this phone. It has good display, powerful processor, big RAM, nice graphics, Dolby audio(what is that? I'll come to it shortly), light weight and yes, it looks classy. I would recommend White & Silver instead of Black & Grey one because I find white one is fresh, the black one is somewhat boring(this is my personnel opinion).
So, common, lets have a broad view on Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus.
Design: I'm quite happy for having combination of White and Silver. It is new in market so it makes the Lenovo look beautiful. The front side is in White and panel is made up of Plastic. The back comes in Aluminium which is in Silver color. The Steel plated frame fits artistically between display and back panel. The combination of Silver aluminum back panel and steel border around camera lens gives the back a rich look. It has the length of 142 mm, width 71 and thickness is about 8 mm. The phone is quite light in weight and can be fit in any pocket whether it is in skinny jeans or in comfortable formal trouser.
It has only two keys on right side of phone(display facing towards you) which are very smoooooooth to operate. The upper side has two jacks, one is 3.5 mm audio jack where we connect earphone, the other one is micro USB port where we connect the charger or computer data cord. The Left side is completely empty. The microphone is placed at the bottom of the phone. There are three touch keys below screen which functions Back, Home and one multi-function key. Another good feature I like of this phone that is the small notification LED given above display at right corner. The notification light turns green when you receive any notification. While charging the phone the Light lit in Red till the phone charged 100 percent. Once it charged full, the light turns in to green.
Display: It has 5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with the viewing angle is 178 degree. The screen to body ratio is 68.4%. The screen is much bright & the resolution is Full HD i. e. 1920 X 1080. It means you can have joy of watching full HD(1080p) videos on it. This is not it, the display is sharp with the pixel density is about 401 ppi(pixels per inch). This helps to look images sharper. The more PPI, that means more sharp pictures. Pixel density to screen size ratio is around 80, very close to perfect sharp display(Ratio being 100 that means the screen is perfect sharp). Touch is buttery smooth.
Performance: It has Octa core 1.5 GHz 64 bit Qualcomm snapdragon 616 processor along with 2 GB RAM. It makes sure that you can open any app quickly without lagging or do the multitasking smoothly. There is absolutely no lag while opening or closing app or transitions between screens. The games such as Asphalt 8, also makes fun to play on this device. BUT. BUT. One thing to keep in mind that this device heats up a lot. Playing games continuously up to 20 minutes to half an hour makes us to keep phone in fridge as soon as we finish up playing. Phone's back cover is made up of Aluminum and that heats up quickly as we all know that the metal is a good conductor. There is no much issue of heating while browsing on internet, though long time browsing causes the phone heats up slightly more as compare to other phones. Only the Heating issue is ignored, the phone is the Best among almost all phones.
It works on Android 5.1.1(Lolipop). Not sure whether Lenovo is gonna provide update or not. Camera: The rear camera is 13 Megapixel along with single LED flash and the front one is 5 Megapixels(without flash). Apart from good specs, do not expect 100 percent from these lenses. Though the photo quality of both lenses, in low light condition, in sunlight condition and in evening condition is somewhat remarkable but I feel it looses on sharpness of pics. If you zoom the pic, you are not able to see the detail and the also pic seen blurred. I compare it with Sony Xperia Z which also has 13 Megapixel cam. However, these lens are capable to capture nice vibrant photos and does not get dull on colors. You can shoot full HD videos but again I'd like to suggest you don't expect the sharpness.
Storage: It comes in only 16 GB storage capacity along with dedicated card slot expandable up to 32 GB. Out of 16 GB only 8.21 GB(51%) available for our stuff. It is advised that have class 10 memory card of 32 GB for your stuff.
Dolby Atmos Sound: This is the Identity or we can say Asset of this phone. This was the prime reason for me to buying this phone. The'Dolby Atmos' delivers the Rich instrumental sound, Full 360 degree surround sound, The Heavy Bass which feels like watching movie in theater. Lenovo doesn't provide earphone with handset so you are free to use any make earphone with this. I'll recommend JBL(T100A) in ear earphone for great sound experience. This phone actually slaps hard Sony in audio quality.:p For this feature, Ignore the other flaws and must buy this phone.
Connectivity: Ability to catch maximum Wi-Fi signal. My office is on ground floor and Wi-Fi router is in office. I stay on 1st floor and this phone all the time shows strength 70% on first floor where my Sony fails to catch Wi-Fi signal. I can watch movie on internet lying down on my bed. Much happy with its ability to catch Wi-Fi signal. Battery Back up: The 2750 mAh battery is slightly disappointment for game enthusiastic. For general use, the back up is sufficient. If you just use this phone for calls and browsing internet, then it will give you back up of about one full day or one and half day(depending upon your use). Battery charging is quicker than Sony. Sony takes 3.5+ hrs for 0 to 100% charging while the Lenovo Vibe K5 plus takes 2.5 to 3 hrs for same.
What Else: It is a dual sim phone, One sim can operate 3G/4G internet and the other one can operate 2G internet. Both sim can not operate 3G/4G internet service. You have to assign sim for 3G/4G internet when you switch on the phone first time. Whichever sim you select 3G internet, the other becomes 2G automatically.
The speaker quality is nice. You will hear clear voice of person with whom you talk on the phone. The mic quality is also good, there is no complaint in this department.
The Battery is removable. One need to remove battery for inserting sims.
In Box: In box you will get Handset, Battery, 2 pin Battery charger along with detachable micro USB to USB computer data cord, Start up guide and 1 screen scratch-guard.
Buying the Handset: This handset is available on Lenovo.com and Flipkart for Rs 8499/-. I purchased handset from Flipkart and got delivery on 3rd day.
Pros: 1) Bright and Crisp Display 2) Small and light weight can be fit in any small area. 3) Phone looks good, Rich back 4) Powerful processor along with Big RAM equal to smooth and fast operations. 5) Dolby Atmos sound for pleasant sound experience.
Cons: 1) Heating issue 2) Camera is not up to the mark. 3) Not sure about updates of Android 6.0. 3) Battery back up.
Verdict: This phone is surely not for gaming enthusiast. Due to heating problem one can not play game for long. But if you are not fond of gaming then there is no phone is better than this in this package.
