Have u heard the term virtual reality(VR) recently? Most probably yes because the concept is not very new. So how can u experience VR in real life:? Through a VR Headset of course.

When I first encountered the term, I immediately started searching for a budget VR headset and zeroed on ANT VR by Lenovo. I purchased it from Flipkart nearly 8-9 months ago and tested it many times with Lenovo K5 note. Let me tell you my thoughts about this headset. I bought it for approx 600/- at that time which was quite cheap. But did this headset actually deliver? Lets find out through a small review. I will allocate a 10 point scale for each aspect I would discuss for better comprehension of its actual performance.

Build quality:

Sorry to say but the build did not convince me. Material is altogether somewhat cheap plastic and not very sturdy. U get a strap for tying it around your head. The strap quality is ok, nothing spectacular. You will not get any Remote Control to operate and there is also no button or something to control playback and sound. The glasses are also of not very good quality. The edges of the lids are sharp. Nose rest is not comfortable either.(4/10)

Ease of Use:

Fitting a fone in the VR headset is not easy. There is no enclosure sort of thing which can keep your fone secure. There are 2 lids which u have to forcibly separate first and put your fone inside them and trust me, this is quite a task. The most inconvenient part is - whenever u start a playback after fitting the fone, it is a nightmare to control or change anything by touching the display. The inconvenience does not end here. If your touch is not gentle enough, the fone may slip through the lids and fall.(2/10)

Software:

U should use the'Theatremax' software which is bundled with most of the recent Lenovo fones. This software is good and setting up is easy I must say. It is much easier than 3rd party software available in the Play Store. It immediately divides your fone screen in 2 separate and equal parts. In a nutshell this software is easy to set up and though it is quite spartan, it gets the job done.(7/10)

VR experience:

Nothing much to say. I watched a few movies though it and my experience was not at all good. As I told earlier the glasses are not very sharp and clear. Couple with that the display of K5 Note is just Full HD. So there was pixellation everywhere in the content. I was simply disappointed with my purchase decision.(4/10)

So should u even buy it? Now if u are really keen to experience virtual reality and in a very tight budget, then u can go for it although I will definitely NOT recommend this VR headset to anyone. Yes the viewing experience will be immersive but the headset itself does not ensure quality.

Now u can say that what to expect for such a low budget? I agree but somehow I absolutely dont like the headset and for last 4-5 months I am not using it. If u can shell out a few extra bucks, grab the Mi VR Play 2 for Rs. 1200/-. It is Google Cardboard compatible and this version comes with a HeadStrap. This is available in official Mi Store as of now.

Do u own an ANT VR? Do u agree with my experience? Please let me know in the comments. Thanks for passing by.
