Natalie Imbruglia. Review on Left of the Middle - Natalie Imbruglia

Torn - Thats what I was when I heard this single by Natalie Imbruglia. I know , most of all you must be starting to groan by now and thinking as to what age this guy lives in. The single ''Torn'' was released back in 1997 and was quite popular. It was one of my favourite ones when it was released back then. Then it had went into the attic of my mind and was collecting dust untill I heard it on a selected selections mp3 cd belonging to a friend of mine. Immediatly it brought to the surface with a boil all the feelings in my heart which I had smothered down when I had first heard the song.

Now, Natalie is one of those rare singers whose face and voice are equally beautifully. Plus she has got quite a throaty and down-to-earth voice which makes listening to her a real pleasure. I've really grown tired of singers whose idea of making an impact is either to expose on screen (a.l.a. shakira and JLo) or to try to unsuccessfully reach never before heights in pitches just to sound very screechy on the way up and even more pathetic on their crashing journey back to earth.

Talking of coming back lets come back to Natalie and Torn. This particular video was very popularly played on various channels but for reasons entirely unknown to me...I managed to have the pleasure of viewing it only once. And once was enough. Torn is a song telling about broken expectations and of coming to accept and declare the fact that the person u have in front of u or living with is not the one whom u once loved :

''No you couldn't be that man I adored ,

You don't seem to know,

Seem to care,

What your heart is for...''

The song is also about expectations and let down and dreams and hopes shattered. Now I am not saying that this song is a reflection of my true life because I've never been in love so the question of me being ditched doesn't rise as yet. lol .:)

There are many other songs by Natalie Imbrugulia which I love the foremost of them being '' Wishing I was there ''. Now this song is just the opposite of ''Torn'' in its meaning. Here Natalie holds the reins to the relationship and doesn't believe in falling in love. She walks out on her man and tells him :

'' Every night the moon is mine

But when the morning comes

Don't say you love me

Don't say you need me

I really don't think that's fair...''
