Choosing a reliable “packers & movers” is indeed a real pain and when I had to recently shift my household items from Pune to Bangalore, I tried googling a lot and found lots of pros & cons about all good branded packers.
In addition to this, my experience with my last shift from Bangalore to Pune was really bad. I had chosen a cheap packer and mover and to my horror, found that my household items were delivered in a tarpaulin covered vehicle as opposed to the hard-covered mini-lorry which had picked it up. My antique carved wooden settee was scratched all over and lots of cutlery was broken.
When I was thinking about this, I was fortunate to meet up my HR person who informed me that I could claim the “packers & movers” bill if I used our company short-listed firms. This sounded really good to me, specially the re-imbursement part of it and got the contacts of the 3 vendors whom I could use. The following are the vendors whom I called up for a quote for my house-hold items:
BR Shastry --> Got a nice quote in a PDF file but was way too expensive, quoted about Rs 32K + tax + VAT
Leo Packers & movers --> Quoted about Rs 22K + tax + VAT
Lead Packers --> Quoted about Rs 22K including everything (tax + VAT + insurance + assurance of a good delivery)
As I had to choose the lowest quoted price, I went ahead with “Lead” who promised me good service. As per my wife who was in Pune, these chaps reached there on agreed upon time and good a nice professional job of packing things, paying special attention to breakables (I was worried a lot about my new 32 inch Sony LCD but it did get pampered a lot). The items were delivered on time (took about 2 days to deliver which was agreed upon earlier) and they did a good job of delivering, un-packing & arranging the stuff in my 10th floor apartment. Nothing was broken or scratched and I was pretty impressed. After this experience, I got my wife’s car, a M800, shifted by the same chaps and it also arrived in a good shape, without any odometer tampering J (I felt Rs 8K was a little bit too much for the transfer but my wife had issued an ultimatum against me driving it back!!).
Not sure if it was my corporate tie-up that provided me this good service or if it was my pure luck :), I am pretty happy with the service that I got and would recommend these chaps to anyone who would want to shift their house-hold items. If something goes bad, please do not blame me :)
