There are many palatial buildings and fake palaces, the steel and cement monstrosities…. But finally an authentic palace!! Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel is one of its kind, and my experience of staying there for 2 days was totally unforgettable.
We, the young generation of today, brought up on pop music, MTV, French fries, colas and fast food never bother about our culture, our heritage, but sooner or later we will, by the time, nothing will be left off!!
Having studied history upto middle school, and having seen some historical movies like Mughal-e-Azam etc.,I had a very vague and hazy notion of history as if I have nothing to do with it. I was always told that it’s very important to know history to understand the present and cope up with the future, but who listens yaar??
This visit to LMPH brought me in direct contact with history. It has given me a new perspective and a new vision.
Whenever I used to nag my dad to take me abroad (coz’ he’s been all round the globe), he always used to say,”see your country first!” I thought it was a put off.But now I am sure that there is so much to learn and enjoy in my own country that one life won’t be enough.
Having been brought up in New Delhi, that too in the posh South Delhi, I have been living in a cocoon. I never knew that there is a beautiful India outside South Delhi!(though I still feel the same)
My visit to Mysore, the Royal Art Gallery, and most importantly the 2 day stay in Lalitha Mahal has been a redeeming experience beyond words.
