The sun was shining down on my a*s but I was almost there, almost inside the cinema. Yes!, I could almost feel the cool air circulating inside and evaporating the sweat off the back of my shirt, ha ha! So cold! so refreshing, liberating! almost there Abhinav, almost?
I?ve noticed that on mouthshut if you say a product or something is really bad your likely to get a low rating, so I have my fingers crossed! No, actually, I don?t care about what rating this gets. To get to the point the film was just average, nothing special, you watch it and then forget it. Let me explain why?
Some parts of the movie, no, the character karan(hrithik) you can really identify with. Such as his laziness, his insecurities, his confusion!! Karan is a well etched out character. you can't help but love him. The youth can identify with him, just like they could identify with the characters in DTH, but that?s as far as the similarities go between the two movies. On the other hand, romy?s (priety) character is all screwed up.
Like the way she breaks up her friendship with Karan when he?s at his most venerable moment in life, just when he needs her the most, would a true friend do that? I know my friends wouldn?t. The outcome of her breakup turns out to be good as karan joins the army, but that?s irrelevant because romy did not make the decision for karan but for herself.
What about the action. Well, its okaaaay, but ya know we?ve seen it all before. The combat scenes are realistic, as good as those in Hollywood movies, but they get too repetitive. Till you reach a point where you go ?I don?t care who shoots who!,? ?just get it done with.? Also the way Amitab keeps explaining the map after each combat is repetitive and boring, couldn?t they just cut that part? Everytime amitabh came on screen with his map I was like ?oh, here we go again.? I believe that if the movie was more about karan then about war, it?d be a hell lot more enjoyable.
If you?re the sort who like lots of combat scenes and big scenic views, then you should go for this one. If your not this type its better to watch it on TV some day.
The moral of the story is obviously clear, ?have a goal in life? or a ?lakshya,? sounds so much more beautiful put that way, dosen?t it? To prove that lakshya does not impact the audience, I?m going to finish this review right here and now, because I can?t be bothered to write any more?and I have NOT changed after watching this movie ?yawn?
