Disclaimer: This review is on the Brand Lakme as a whole and not on a specific product of theirs. Thank you

Lakme; without a doubt or argument is the reigning brand in Indian Beauty Industry.There is no denying it. They have cared for Indian skin for years and I too have grown up with Lakme. I mean my first cleanser(my first beauty product) in fact belonged to Lakme. Their very old classic milk cleanser. The point is Lakme is a brand name that confuses me whether I should rate it with full five stars or not because there are lot of things that I hate about this brand while there are some things that I love about them, some of their products that still find their place in my beauty bag. Confused?? let me explain;

What do I hate??

Lakme Eye Liner:What stings, makes you cry and leaves you with two big Panda Eyes. Bingo!! I mean once upon a time I thought it was okay for the eye liner to sting and the eyes to water. But now I dont because now I am best friends with some eyeliners(Ok, Revlon’s eyeliners) that definitely dont sting and definitely dont leave dark circles even though they are meant to be long wear and long stay. Lakme is a catch for the price they offer you. There is no other liner that gives you such a deep bold colour with an ergonomic brush for 50 bucks. But its fine as long as the eye liner does not touch the water line of the eyes. (and if you dont mind the dark circles).

Lakme Lip colours: I have never been quite a fan of Lakme Lip colours. I like the classic Lakme lipcolours that used to come in the green tubes but their liquid lipcolour was like something that dried up on your lips in a way that you couldnt stretch the lips. I agree that the colours are suited for Indian skin tones and have beautiful browns and reds. But the colour dont last long and doesnt offer any protection from sun or dryness. Even the new Lakme 9 to 5 disappointed me that it was too dry and was rough to put on your lips.

Lakme Face Make up: It doesnt last long, clog pores and runs down once you start sweating. Period!! The one reasonable call is the Lakme Souffle but even when they claim to be oil free, they dont feel that way and worse when sweating resulting in break outs. But I agree that they do have foundation shades that suit Indian skin tones. I havent used the 9 to 5 range so I cannot say anything regarding that.

Lakme Matte Face Wash: Does it even mattify your face?? I have oily skin and despite the fact the package looks pretty convincing(reminds me of Garnier Pure) I was not impressed by this product. The skin did not feel cleansed and as a matter of fact all th eoil was back ina few minutes. It is a total waste of money and the fragrance, the cleanser, the product fails as a whole.

What do I love?

Lakme Kajal or Kohl Pencil: I love this. I always have one with me and its the perfect Kohl with a a very smooth tip and a handy Pencil design. Although the Kohl spreads, everyKohl does that I guess, they dont irritate the eyes or burn them. Its a must buy in my list.

Lakme Eye shadows: They are not very expensive when you take the brands in a broader sense but gives you brilliant colour and has some of the best colours for Indian skin. I am a fan of their bridal tones that include shades like taupe and fawn. They dont last that long but do give a strong colour for a considerable amount of time.

Lakme Nail Polishes: Trust me, I can ask for nothing more. They have very deep colours. Funky ones and have everything from quick dry to long lasting. Apparently the Lakme’s nail polish lasts longer and chips less and with the wider range, I say; Go for it!!

Lakme Strawberry face wash: Love it!! The face wash is even better than the international competitors. I love the strawberry fresh fragrance that lingers on your face, the fresh cool feeling that you get once you wash your face and most of all it does what it should do...it cleanse the face thoroughly. The face wash deep cleans and the exfoliators do their job too.... it just feels fresh after that. You will feel it.

Lakme Strawberry Silk Creme: I have seen so many moisturisers but nothing steals my heart like this one. It has a mild fruity fragrance and blends easily.The light weight oil free formula is perfect for any type of skin. You would never regret this buy.

Lakme Salon Services: I have heard so many criticicisms about Lakme’s Salon service.But as far as I am concerned I am happy with the results. I am a regular customer at Lakme Beauty Salon – Thiruvananthapuram and I love their hair cuts and facials. I have so much to say that I shall share my experiences with a detailed review on the salon quite soon. But I will vouch for the fact that it was worth every penny paid.

Beauty comes from within and confidence builds up when you know you are beautiful, and Lakme has always played that significant role in boosting the Indian Woman’s Confidence.
