The movie has actually come from a 19th century Russian novel Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District.

Lets about the movie plot-

A young bride, Katherine is kept indoors by her husband Alexander. She is unhappy as she is married to an older man. She sits straight with a bright blue dress on a sofa staring right into the camera, to showcase her loyalty to her husband. And thats when we see Alexander shouting - my father bought you!, which gave me jolt.

She eventually goes outside where she meets her lover, Sebastian, a mixed race whose act such as lust and discovery and horror keeps the movie going. They throughout the story engage in all acts of shame and love, violence and adoration.

Each shot is taken as if they are pages of a photographic book told through the eyes of a 3rd person present in the room, elegant.

I watched the movie as I like drama and I am exploring more options in drama. But for some people it can be slow paced singular story, which throws away any idea about exploring other characters, other than her husband and lover.

The movie on a loud note depicts a racist idea which lingered in the medieval society. Many racist remarks and acts were aweful.

The movie is definitely dark and shows the ill mindsets and secrets of each character.

The protagonist herself is silent most of the times and engage in a thought of what is she thinking?

The cinematography, and use of characters is excellent. Although I would have liked to see more of rest of the characters. But when I left the hall, I felt a peace since the shameful acts of that time's society doesn't exist on the silurface anymore, and such acts are criminal now and forbidden.

I would recommend those guys who don't take movie personally and seriously, and can watch with people who are not harmed or can harm others in similar ways after watching this movie. If you are neither of the above two, then I request you humbly to stay away from this movie.
