Naughty as can be. Review on Kurumbu Movie

Kurumbu is the Tamil word for Naughty

Some years back, I saw a movie. After seeing the Movie Kurumbu, I thought, that English movie is copied it from this Tamil movie Kurumbu. C’mon don’t you think so, Holly wood is the first in the foray to bring out time machine concept visualized on screen. So they came to the future saw this one in Tamil and Telugu and copied the movie. Ofcourse this is a bad joke, getting too old you see.

For those who are interested in story line, you know this story if you have seen Secret Admirer, with Lori Loughlin as the secret admirer. Lori Laughlin is Rebecca Donaldson of Full house fame.

For A start there is Ravi (Naresh) and Appu or Aparna (Nikitha) who are just friends. Well, the role of Lori Loughlin in My secret admirer is played by Nikitha. So Appu has this Softy ice cream, I mean Soft corner, for Ravi. But Ravi is keen on losing his virginity rather than pay attention to his academics. He would dream about this semi nude girl most of the time.

Now enters the bad news of all time, Ruchi (Diya). Well, Diya has got what every teenage guy dreams of having her as his girl friend. She is keen on spending more money on cloth economy. I mean somehow she is preserving clothes by keeping them short. She is this cool gal, with a mobile phone, who gets picked up by guys with cool cars and escorted to Discos etc. Well, our wayward Ravi immediately sees Ruchi as her dream girl. But she doesn’t even bother to give him a second look.

Ravi writes a love letter to Ruchi, asked Appu to deliver it. Now Appu curious of what’s written opens it and reads it. Obviously the letter wasn’t good enough to sweep a girl of her feet. So Appu rewrites the letter with her own feelings for Ravi and replaces it, and promptly delivers the letter. This letter after being read by Ruchi created lot of problems between Ruchi's family and Ravi's family. Ruchi places it in some place where the letter gets circulated between Ravi’s family and Ruchi’s family. So Ravi’s Mother thinks that it was written by Ruchi’s father and vice versa. This confusion galore is what makes the movie worth watching.

Coming to the Cast Performance, Naresh is quiet natural, he looks like a brat that comes naturally, and I didn’t think his performance as impressive. Nasser and Nirosha fit their roles very well. It was quit a treat to see Nasser playing a semi middle aged lover boy, while Nirosha being the jealous wife. Even the characters of Ravi’s parents were pretty impressive. (I don’t know their names). Coming to Diya, Well she needs to take some lessons in acting. She was speaking on the mobile wasn’t very convincing. to tell you the truth, I could have done the part better if I could have fit into her outfits. - Well I know I cannot fit into her outfits, so I said it. So that’s a joke laugh or else ... Coming to the best performance is Nikitha. She did her part perfect to the T. either being a jealous secret admirer, a heartbroken and dejected girl, and most importantly she played a teen age that could be kidding at times and yet is sensible. Well that is true to most teenage girls. But even guys can be sensible and not drooling sometimes like Naresh has portrayed. That is probably where Naresh has failed.
