Hello guys
2020 390 Adventure - KA01JJ6771
From the very start of 2022, my bike used to randomly shut off, it only became worse.
It never used to start when I washed the bike or it gets wet in rain, dry conditions the RPM used to fluctuate when idling or at low speeds and eventually shut off.
I gave it to KTM service Indiranagar, Bengaluru they told me some software update was done and the bike was fine, it was never fine. I took the bike back it was with them for 2 weeks and they did a general service charged me and told everything was fine.
The bike felt ok not perfect for around 4 to 5 days and the same issue started, this time I was asked to take the bike to Kasturba Road KTM service, Bengaluru. The bike was there for another 2 weeks they did another general service charged me and told everything is fine and it was not, they told me everything is fine with the bike no issues I lost hope in service and planned to fix it myself.
From my own money without claiming for warranty, even after I showed video proof of RPM fluctuation they did not give me warranty on the part that I purchased, parts I paid from the pocket and replaced -
1) OEM ECU
2) Throttle Body
3) Ignition Coil
4) Fuel Pump
5) O2 Sensor
6) MAP Sensor
7) Stator Coil
8) Battery
9) Relays
10) Starter Motor
11) Plugs
12) All the filters etc.,
All the above parts cost me about Rs 40000+
After all this I did myself the bike was good for a while, I managed to do a few rides too and the bike started to shut off again.
In July I gave the bike to Indiranagar Service again for the same RPM fluctuation, bike shut off issue, Quickshifter not working. They told the compression of the bike is too low, one of the exhaust side valve is leaking compression, thank god this time they changed Bore, Piston, 4 Valves under warranty only after the bike was with them for more than a month.
I got the bike back on August 7th and it was all running fine but the Quickshifter still did not work and a check light frequently kept on coming, I managed to ride the bike as it is because I felt there is no point going to the service center.
Last week that is 6th of October my bike started jerking really bad and it was not rideable, managed to take it back to the service center Indiranagar again and they told me they'll replace the Quickshifter Sensor and the O2 sensor that was getting a check light with fault code P0131. Today on October 11 I get a call and they said your bike is ready the Quickshifter was opened and refitted and the O2 sensor was cleaned everything is fine now, magically Quickshifter started working but after riding the bike for a few kilometers the check light came back on and the bike started jerking and kept on shutting off, took it back again and showed them, this time too the check light fault code was P0131 instead of replacing it as promised they started checking voltage, resistance and compared to a healthy 390 Adventure they told me all the readings are fine the O2 sensor is fine, I asked them if the sensor is fine why is the check light coming? They have no answer, a few hours later they checked for compression and the compression was low they said, they rebuilt the engine 2 months back and again the compression started getting low.
Honestly, I am fed up of spending money and time getting the bike still under warranty fixed. From February 2022 to October 2022 I have just clocked around 2500 KMS to 3000 KMS rest of the time it was in the service center.
I have zero hopes on the bike and on the service centers too.
