Three years back,Rakesh Roshan released his most ambitious movie,”Koi Mil Gaya”.That movie made history in Bollywood as it was the first film about an ‘alien’, to be made in Bollywood. Therefore, that film opened gates for different and experimental commercial films to be made in Bollywood. “Koi Mil Gaya” was definitely loved by the viewers and left them desiring for more. So, Rakesh Roshan decided to make a sequel to “Koi Mil Gaya” and he has come up with Koi Mil Gaya-Part 2; ”Krrish” . Just as “Koi Mil Gaya” was a first of its kind (due to the introduction of an ‘alien’ movie in Bollywood), “Krrish” also introduces a new concept in Bollywood- that of a superhero.

Filmkraft Productions. ”Krrish", produced and directed by Rakesh Roshan stars Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Rekha, Naseerudin Shah, Maninee De, Archana Puran Singh, Sharat Saxena, Hemant Pandey and Preity Zinta (in a special appearance) and is one of the most awaited films of the year. Now, I`ll tell whether this highly awaited film lived upto my expectations or not.

”Krrish” tells the story of Krishna (Hrithik Roshan) whose parents have died, years back and so he lives with his grandmother, Sonia Mehra (Rekha). Krishna possesses supernatural powers, something which no ordinary man can possess. The reason behind his powers is that his father, Rohit (Hrithik Roshan of ‘Koi Mil Gaya’) was given special powers by an alien ‘Jaadoo’ and Krishna inherited these powers from his father. Krishna`s grandmother takes Krishna to Manali and keeps him away from big cities. She doesn`t even get him admitted to any school. She herself teaches him all the things that a child learns from school. One day, Krishna saves the life of a girl called Priya (Priyanka Chopra),from Singapore and a TV reporter by profession, who comes to visit Manali with her friends. Priya realizes that Krishna is a very talented person and advises him not to waste his talent by remaining in a small village in Manali but Krishna refuses her advice as he knows that his grandmother won`t allow him to do so. When Priya returns back to Singapore her friend (Maninee De) tells Priya that if she could persuade Krishna to come to Singapore, they could telecast a program on him and his talents which would increase the viewership of this channel. When Krishna agrees to go to Singapore, his grandmother refuses to allow him to do so. At Krishna`s insistence she tells him the reason behind disallowing him to go. She tells him that when his father went to Singapore, he was betrayed and killed, something which got his mother, Nisha (Preity Zinta) into a trauma and caused her to die. So, Sonia states that she does not want Krishna to die, as well. However,Sonia finally allows Krishna to go to Singapore, on the terms that he will not let anyone know about his powers. When Krishna reaches Singapore, he tries to use his special powers for helping helpless people in need. So, he becomes Krrish by putting a mask on his face and wearing leather pants and shirt and a cape, too. Later,he is told that his father Rohit was betrayed by Dr.Arya (Naseerudin Shah) who tried to use Rohit`s abilities to his own advantage. Now, the superhero Krrish gets ready to take revenge from Dr.Arya.

I was really waiting to see “Krrish” not because I found its trailers interesting or because I liked it song but because I had loved “Koi Mil Gaya” and knowing that “Krrish” is its sequel, I couldn`t wait to see it and I`m glad that it lived upto my expectations.

This is one such film that keeps the viewer`s interest alive throughout. Not even a single scene makes you get bored. Rakesh Roshan as a director has succeeded yet again. This a purely imaginary and fictituous films. Things that are completely impossible in real have been shown in this film, still the viewer does not laugh at all the unrealistic things nor does the film look stupid because of the simple reason that the director has handled the film intelligently and has presented it in a very convincing manner. The first half of the film gives you the feel of watching a typical Bollywood movie. The initial scenes when Krishna tries to scare Priya and her friends, etc. by making them believe that he is a ghost are entertaining but it gets interesting from the scene when Krishna gets angry at his grandmother for not allowing him to go to Singapore. The second half is very gripping which has many twists and turns. The flashback scene which shows Rohit using the special computer that can tell its user about his future is amazing and in the same scene when he gets to know that Dr.Arya wants to kill him makes the film even more interesting. The climax is also executed very well, especially when Krrish has to step ahead towards Dr.Arya without using his powers and when he shows his face to Dr. Arya.

Rakesh Roshan,Robin Bhatt and Honey Irani`s screenplay and script is also very well planned. First of all deciding to make a superhero film and then planning each and every scene of such a film is no easy task but the writers have successfully been able to plan out the script of such a difficult movie. The success of the writers lies in the fact that they have managed to keep the viewers interest alive throughout the duration of the movie.

Special effects of this film deserve a special mention. In this department, ‘Krrish’ is way beyond ‘Koi Mil Gaya’. The special effects in the scenes where Rohit`s computer laboratory has been shown or in the amazing action sequences is really something to watch out for. Bollywood has really advanced in this area and one can see the possibility of Bollywood reaching to Hollywood standards in the special effects field, in the near future.

Sham Kaushal`s action with the help of many Singaporean action directors is simply the best, witnessed so far. Reportedly lots of hard work was gone behind the action scenes of the movie, and it definitely shows on screen.

The film succeeds in other areas of technical department too. The cinematography is brilliant and the background score, editing etc. are also up to the mark.
