''This is going to be Hritik's Comeback film!'' . How many times have you heard that one before ? Lots , i'm sure . Well , after the crappy peice of filmamking that masquraded as MPDKH , Hritik is back with his latest comebck , Koi Mil Gaya . Well , will it work for him ? Will he be doomed to obscurity , cursed to spend the rest of his life looking back on his scucess and stardom and then crying lonely tears as he remembers the days gone by ? Or will it click and revive his career and make sure that he will be rememberd by the coming 20 or so generations ? Well frankly speaking I think this is a film that will work .
If you are expecting a high-tech sic-fi movie in the line of X-Files/E.T than this will disappoint you a bit . However , if you want a refreshing comedy-cum-melodrama with song and dance sequences and with the alien element as a added atraction than this will greatly please you .
The story is basically as thus : Papa Roshan , is a scientist , who has his head in the stars ( lterally) . He's on the constant lookout for aliens , and using his very own computer , he actually manages to communicate with some . He gets real excited and tells his buddies at the space reasearch center . Unfortunately , they dont believe him and he is redicueld . On the way back home , he does see a spaceship. However he's too busy staring at the aliens ( and not at the road) and promptly gets himself killed in an accident . His wife ( Rekha) , is thrown clear from the car and survives . The kid however , suffers from some kind of brain damage and is born mentally handicapped .
Fast forward 20 years or so and we find out that our hero has the body of a man but the mind of a child . Everyone feels sorry for him ( except for the local goons ) and he genraly leads a cheerful ( if not unfulfilling) life . One day after befriending priety zinta , he finds his dad's computer and messes with . And Lo! the alien comes back and somehow gets stuck with him . Eventually , he gives hritik special powers that greatly increase his eligibility as a bachelor. Eventually , the government decides to capture the alien and then hritik sets out to free him again and send him home. The end .
Not the most exciting plot , but Rakesh Roshan it somehow manages to pull it off . If you have to watch this movie for only one reason , then watch it for Hiritiks acting . This has to be his best performance till date . He plays the role of the mentally handicapped person to perfection . In act , in the first half , we are shown Hritik-the-actor and not Hritik the superstar .
The rest of the cast has also done a prety good job , especially Rekha . Special mention also goes to the kids in the movie , who have also done a really nice job .hey not only look cute , but also manage to pla their roles convincingly , especially the Sardarji .
Other plus points about the movie include some of the special effects , some of the comic sequences and good music .
A sci-fi movie about aliens requires special effect . Somehow Rakesh Roshan has used the bare minimum of SFX and it actually works . The spaceship looks quite impressive... while its in the air . As soon as it lands it starts to look like a circuit board with its blinking lights . Some of he other effects are also quite good , especially during the baskeball match .
The alien itself is okay , but not what I was expecting . It looked obese to me. A very cosmopolitan alien by the way , since it picks up hindi so quickly .
On the downside , the plot has quite a few holes in it . The alien wasnt all that exciting ( not after all the hype we were given about it ) . The movie is let down by its corny climax , which looks out of tune with the rest of the movie . At places rakesh roshan seems confused about what kind of emotions he wants to portray . Most of the movie is in a comic mood so the sudden shifts to the more dramatic scenes looks a bit awkward .
Overall , this is a really good movie . It has everything going ofr ot ... good comedy , good acting , nice music . Really is worth your time and money .
