I came from Kodai today Morning.I booked my 2 night 3 days package Tour from Vintage Tourism in RT Nagar Bangalore.It was a good experience.
The weather was nice & cool.I took forest & Trekking sightseeing tours by paying extra 1100.Mr.Sultan Ibrahim( I never met him during the stay & spoke over phone only) of travellers inn & Mr.Babu of Parveen Travels took good care of me.I must thank them & Mr.Rahman of vintage Tourism for all the Help.
There is nothing new to write about the places I visited in Kodai.Every place has Its own beauty.But What I loved Most is the Silent valley Forest tour.One cannot write it down in words you have to feel it.The Mist covered Hills, The cold breeze, the smell of the Jungle Flowers.It was awesome.
In our regular city tour Our guide took us to the Original Suicide Point on the condition that we wont make any noise.We knew he was telling the truth because in every other spot we saw lots of people but This was the only place where except us Nobody was there.We entered the area through Jumping Forest dept Fence and after walking for 15 mins we reached the spot.Our guide told us that earlier this was also a regular tourist place but a year back 4 tourists committed suicide again so Forest Dept decided to Ban the Area for Civilians.And Oh my God, what a dangerous place.Every one in our Group felt that this place has something very depressing which we didnt feel on the other suicide spot.
Kodaikanal was really nice.
Now lets talk about negative things.The 1st one is Tour guide.In our forest tour the guide collected 30 rupees each as entry fee for Forest.But when we talked to the Forest Guards they said no such fee is there but yes they do collect 100 rs for each vehicle entering the Forest.When we started shouting at the guide he said that It was bribe for forest dept.We knew he was lying so we decided no to pay any Guide Service charge after the Trip.Next day also same thing happened.The Guide took 40 rs each as various entry fees.But We didn't see any charges during the trip except in one place where we paid 3 rs per head.After the tour Guide demanded 25 Rs per head as service charge.We all started arguing and didn't pay service charge.This is a new style of Kodaikanal Guides to cheat people.But Not all.Our Trekking tour Guide didnt ask me anything as fee or Service charge.Even next day He came to visit me at my Hotel to return the Expensive sunglasses I left in his vehicle.His name is Ramesh, 25 year old Guy.
The next thing is the food price.I thought Bangalore is the Costliest in this particular area but Kodaikanal is far more expensive than Bangalore compared to food rate & quality.So guys, please have extra few hundreds just for Food.In one Hotel(Hilltop) they are charging 22 rs for one boiled egg!
Overall except these two things My trip to Koadikanal was really Good.
