Soups r an ideal way to nourish the appetite before a lunch or a dinner coz they provide nutrients. everyone has their own choice for a soup may be a chicken, or a clear vegetable soup or whatever. soups r world favorites & now as readymade soups r available at reasonable prices, they have become a daily necessity for many people the worldover.
So I start the topic with knorr soups which r available here in india. they have multiple varieties..but the ones I only go for is the hot & sour one & the mushroom one, coz nonveg is not allowed at home as my mom is a staunch veggie. but I relish eating non veg outside the house. I will tell u of an interesting fact. it began 6 yrs back in the winter season when my dad deployed the idea of having soup before dinner as it got very cold at night & as living in this cosmopolitan of mumbai we kids didnt take time to get habituated to it. at this juncture knorr had only 2 varieties in its veggie section, ie hot & sour & sweet corn soup. later on the other varieties entered the mkt. we were pretty satisfied with the hot & sour one. but the only thing that irks a lot about this hot & sour variety is that it tends to be too salty at times & even too sour!!! thats y I term it, ''HOT AND SALT'' soup. the salt content may be high for making the soup preservable for a long time, but wen u have the soup u r left behind a sour tongue. this is the only thing y we have stopped bringing hot & sour now. but for u all beginners...its just fine to have a go.
carrying on my topic, one day I got the sweet corn soup & made it according to the instructions. but to my belief...instead of the sweet corn, there turned out to be oodles of salt in the soup!!! which I thought to be cream & when the moment I had the soup, I was aghast..no more I said & the entire soup had to be thrown away. next minute I took a sample to the shop where I got it & indirectly I lodged a complaint to knorr foods india & they apologised. so sometimes u never know what the soup might be containing and u just keep on enjoying the soup believing...''ya...this is the best soup, the taste might be a bit salty or sour or whtever...but its the best....'' & u keep on harming ur health indirectly.
its not at all compulsory to make readymade soups. scientists worldover who recommend drinking soups, ask people to make them at home from fresh ingredients instead of prepacked material ie. material which is not fresh at all... I still believe ..inspite of many MNC's making debuts with their new products, it may look attractive & new for sometime but we come to know its after effects later on. u all must be knowing the effects of over eating salt beyond a limit. so we should be aware of such happenings thru our own experience.
So....my best advice is to make the soups of ur own choice, BUT at home only, because it truly has its benefits. but if some immediate problem is there, unexpected guests arrive then shifting to such secondary products wud be wise enough. but for our primary needs...i still recommend u home cooked food coz wen u make a soup at home..u have ur own effort, u can experiment with adding sum extra spices & all tht. besides home made food is better digested than outside food & u know in a country like ours, the perils of eating outside food r tremendous as we have a very poor environment.
SO ENJOY SUCH PRODUCTS ON UR OWN, BUT NOT FORCING U....STILL.....HOME FOOD IS THE BEST FOOD...EVEN WHEN I MAY NOT BE THAT GREAT A COOK.
