Winter season is around, in this chilly weather what can be more helpful than a bowl of piping hot soup? Soups made at home or made with the help of a ready to cook packs are always a good option to warm ourselves in the winter season. Besides this soup serves as a good appetizer when had before lunch or dinner.
There are numerous varieties of ready to prepare soups available in the market today. One of it comes from Unilever, namely Knorr! My family and me have been having Knorr soups since many years. It has been one of our favourite ready to eat items. Its because the procedure to make it is very easy and quick.
ABOUT THE SOUP-
FLAVORS:
Knorr presents an array of savoury soups. It comes in three ranges Classic, Indian and Chinese. The Classic range consists of Thick tomato, Mixed vegetable, Chicken delite, Creamy mushroom and Tomato twisty pasta. The Chinese range offers Hot and sour veg and chicken, Sweet corn veg and chicken and Sweet and sour noodle. The Indian range has two soups namely Tomato makhani and Corn mast masala. Thus giving us a lot of options to choose from. The most favorite one in my house is the Thick tomato one.
PACKING-
The soups come in a powder form within a 55gms packet. The packet is green in colour for all the flavours. It is a quite attractive one. If you bought Thick tomato soup, the front side a has a picture of a bowl of the same soup and a few tomatoes around it. Similarly it is done for all the other flavours. At the back of the pack, we find the enumeration of all the flavous, the nutritional contents of the soup and the two step procedure for making the soup.
PROCEDURE-
It does not have a lengthy procedure. It takes hardly 10 mins and soup is ready. We just have to mix the contents of the pack in 600 ml water and stir so that no lumps are formed. Later bring it to boil and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes.
TASTE-
The soup tastes amazing. Its a perfect blend of all the spices. The taste is such that it makes us addicted to it. Addition of a little salt and pepper can make it better. It tastes best when had hot, on cooling it thickens.
HEALTHY OR NOT-
The soup pack says "100% Real Vegetables or Chicken, No added MSG, No Added Preservatives", but a bowl of homemade soup will say more. It will definitely real veggies and chicken but they will be fresh. There would not be any taste emulsifiers, added flavours etc. Thus the soup is not as healthy as homemade soups.
OVERALL:
PROS-
Good taste.
Not expensive.
Wide range to choose from.
Attractive packing.
Quick and easy to make.
CONS-
Not as healthy as homemade soups.
VERDICT-
People looking for tasty, quick and easy to make snack can go ahead with this one. But these kind of packed foods should be chosen once in a while, when cooking is not convenient. Making these packs usually a part of your meal is not a good idea. It does not mean we can't have it once in a while. Thanks for reading and enjoy having!
