Hello people,
yup, i'm talkin' about the much hyped all-india talent hunt show popstars which is back 'wid a bang.read on..
POPSTARS 1 a nation wide search 4 fresh new talents to put up india's very first all ga'z band (read desi spicegalz) . a whole lotta publicity, ads, glitz, glamour, aspirations, ambitions 2 make it big n' what not.the end product- VIVA,- viva, who ya ask? well, the same band who had their one n' only hit album, reached the zenith of success for a while, got a lot of fan following, n' then, ... went wham! out of the way! barring a few page3 appearances, n' a few gaana-bajaana concerts, they were no where to be seen.end of popstars1
POPSTARS 2 yo the talent hunt is back again with the same amount of hype n' hoopla, but, this time around 'wid a whole new funda, which is kudi aur munda . ya guessed it right, the search beginz 4 the desi vengaboys. they're kindda showing the auditions at some of the places. can catch up the episodes at 8pm every sunday night,k.. the show promises to be action packed with real emotions of 'da participants. so, here goes more info 'bout popstars2:-
THE JUDGES
palaash sen heard of the band euphoria? yup, dr. sen is the lead vocalist of that band. he's probably the only one who still manages to fit the bill as a judge. the rest r...???
mehnaaz she's...ya she herself is a popstar, ya know! well, she rose to fame 'wid some pop songs like miss india n' then... well, I dunno where did she disappear, but, somehow she's back as a judge to select fresh new talents from all over india.
purab must have definitely watched him goin' blah-blah on some or the other channel v shows, rite. he was a vj, a model, n' now, an actor(???) ... but, music...nah! hosting a show 4 a music channel is a different thing n' judging such a huge talent hunt is a different thing, isn't it? then, what is he doin' here...? ask the producers!
THE PROCEDURE there are a huge amount of college n' sometimes even skool kids vying 4 a place in the popstars group,k.. so,they make it a point to gather in a huuuge amount at the selected venue. they sing, waive n' do a lotta weird stuffs to impress the judges as the come just to get noticed. the judges come in a rather flashy way, smile at the crowd n' go inside.
one by one , the contestants go inside, present a namoona of their vocal skills by singing just one line(literally) of a song, n' are asked to go out in a rather non-polite manner, but, some of them who really aim at makin' it big start trying other buttering methods to pataofy the judges.
sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
anyway, after all of this, the selected ones jump 'wid joy n' do a usual show of ''oh mi god! I won '' dance drama. as far as the rejected ones r concerned, well, all they do is grudge 'bout how unfair the whole system is n' how bad the judges sre( the same judges they had been goin' ga-ga over just a while ago). the worst part is yet to come, yeah, the cameramen start followin' these rejected can=didates n' show all their rona-dhona on screen.
MY OPINION
all this rona-dhona, gussa, n' outburst of all negative energies in the name of reality tv? real emotions? naa! pleeez! give us a break. aren't we all human enough to feel how one feels after a defeat> is there really a need to tell us all 'dat thru these real emotions visuals n' stuffs? I think the show needs a break. the concept of 'da whole thing is fine, but, the execution is all wrong. we want some real talented bands here man, no artificaial characters, flashin' their pearly whits n' tryin' to shout at 'da top of their voices. please save us from another one album wonder. hope this time around, these ppl, actually do manage to find some real talents, inspite of all that emotional drama thing goin' on.
