2/5 - Great Looks, mediocre performance, bad mileage

Last year on the 22 of August I bought My Kinetic GF.

While I aware of the fact that the Kinetic GF - 125 did give vibrations at speeds above 60, I bough the vehicle cause I really liked the looks. I loved it for its looks. I still do.

My usage was going to be limited, only in South Mumbai. I expected an average of around 50 KMPL. I have got top speed of 90.

What I really like about the bike is bike is the looks followed by the digital indicator and the small frills packaged in the bike like the side stand indicator and the electric starter (which is now a standard in most high end bikes) is a life saver in the Mumbai traffic.

The performance of the machine has been strictly okay. It's not consistent. Six months after I bought the machine the engine would heat up very soon and I would have to halt to let in cool down. I say it isn’t consistent because surprisingly when I cam from Goa to Mumbai on the bike about a month (18 August 2004) back it worked like a beauty (overheated just once in the entire trip, I had expected it to stop more than once)

The GF has been also been designed uniquely the position of the seat and the gear switch is further away from any bikes in India. While I took some time to get used to it, it has never been a problem. Some of my friends (using Pulsar) didn’t like the GF’s seat – I have never had a problem with the seat at all. The road grip of the GF is excellent and is easily maneuverable.

The pick up is ordinary while I don't mind that I am extremely disappointed with the mileage of the bike - just about 30 KMPL.

I have also had a harrowing experience with the servicing of the bike at the Prabhadevi workstation (I would give them a negative if I ever write a review on them) The spare parts too are expensive and understandably so not available easily - C'mon how many GF - 125's can you see on the road - that's why.

Bottomline - Don't buy it unless you are completely flawed by its looks and don’t care for anything else.

Note: Kinetic GF – 125 has been my first bike and I must admit that I haven’t maintained the bike superbly. I would rate myself 2/5 for the maintenance of the bike. Please bear this in mind along with the review.
