Well, I cannot remember any movie filled with so much bloodshed and gore.
The least I can say about this movie is ''it is senseless, soulless and a horrible movie''.I would rather go and watch the texas chainsaw massacre
(even a horror movie can't match kill bill in gore). I dont know how
somebody can sit through this bloody mess for almost 2 hrs.
The movie is one hell of a blood bath, here is the official story line
'' The Bride(Uma Thurman), a wispy blonde warrior is left for dead by her
former boss Bill (David Carradine). Four years later, she snaps out of a
coma and swears vengeance on the fiends who shot her in the head''
Limbs and heads toss and fly in the air, blood sprays from slashed parts of the body like water from a fountain and body after body of carnage lie behind. The movie is a glorification of violence, each of the sickening killings is stylized to such an extent, that it wont be a surprise if somebody after seeing the movie decided to take a sword and slash a body or two!.
I cannot believe this movie is being praised by so many people, creativity, yes but what is the result, it is a totally senseless revenge story, filled with so much blood that halfway through the movie, I was waiting for the end.
The very fact that this movie is a Quentin Tarantino movie, makes half the people give a thumbs up for this movie. Believe me, if we disassociate QT from this movie half the people wouldnt even go see this movieand of those that actually do see the movie, only a fraction (who like such exaggerated brutality) would give it a thumbs up.
There are some pluses in this otherwise sick movie.
The way the narrative moves forward and backward in time, makes the movie
a wee bit interesting.
Uma Thurman, she is just magnetic, its a stunning performance, esp the
scene in which she wakes up from coma and the subsequent sequences are
very well enacted.
Bottom line
To me QT or no QT, I didnt like this bloodbath one bit.
All the QT fans skip the next para.
I came across this review in the filmcritic website, that best summarizes
this movie -
''Kill Bill reveals Tarantino as a sham auteur ripping off Hong Kong action flicks and 1970s B-movies for their surface frills. He?s the cinematic equivalent of karaoke or bad photocopies, mindlessly adopting style while forgetting the basic precepts of storytelling.''
