Every city in India has a flavor of its own and whenever we Indians go to another city, food is something we are always ready to relish. Hyderabad has its flavor and people who stay or have been to Hyderabad will certainly agree that - Hyderabad's food is unique. I often get into a lot of experimentation when it comes to food, at times the risk is worth every penny I invest. Yesterday, I have been to a restaurant for the third time, this gave me a fairly good idea of it which I will be sharing with you all.
The Name of the Restaurant: Khao Galli.
Khao Galli literally means Eat Street/Lane, can be easily related to another Eatery (Eat Street) at Necklace Road (Hyderabad). But Eat Street offers variety available in different counters (Located in the same compound) and Khao Galli is know for both A la carte and Buffet.
Location:
Hi-tech City is the IT Hub of Hyderabad and this Restaurant is in the Cyber Towers (Madhapur Square). Mainly because of its location, it is often the preferred choice of many formal meetings apart from a lot many informal. But for a group of 15 plus, Buffet isn't ideal as they take relatively more time.
Parking Facility:
They have valet parking and one gets the comfort of getting down the vehicle right in font of the restaurant. Good space is available for two wheelers too.
Ambiance: The restaurant presents a good setting for a peaceful meal, the soft music adds on to the environmental. Although I wish they light it up a little.
Food:
Khao Galli depicts a decent flavour of Hyderabad when it comes to the kind of dishes they offer, especially in Buffet.
Buffet:
Starters: The meal starts with a welcome drink (A Mocktail) along side they serve Soup (Veg/Non-Veg) with around 4 variants of Starters, two Veg and 2 Non Veg including Kebabs (Veg/Non Veg), Chicken 65 (it isn't boneless!) and Fish (bones? nope! a few thorns! :P)
Live Counters: This is one of the few restaurants in Hyderabad where you will find Live Counters of Pani Poor and other Chaat items (like Dahi Poori, Aalu chaat, Papdi Chaat, Pav Bhajji - differs every time), Omelette and Phulka.
Salad: Nothing new, though they have a decent variety (6 Varieties)
Main Course: Though I am a Non-Vegetarian, I prefer tasting the Veg Curries, the main reason for which I feel is my love for cooking. The ones who cook might understand what I mean..
Veg: They serve around 14 variants of Veg Curries. I had Palak Paneer, Mix Veg Curry, Masala Potatoa Curry, little daal along with the Roti(served at the table). They didn't have much variety in the roti- the only options given were Phulk, Naan and Butter naan.
The Veg Noodles, though spicy were good.
Non-Veg: In my last visit the non-veg was surprisingly a step ahead of the regular, both in terms of the taste and variety. I had the privilege of tasting Kadai Chicken, the other curry was Andhra Chicken which is often on their menu. Along with which they had Chicken Biryani ((Mutton Biryani not served often).
Chicken Briyani was okay, it cannot be compared to the one at Paradise.
Now coming to the best part of the Buffet...
The Live Dessert Counter:
Cold Stone Ice Cream: The chef has the right knowledge of mixing and matching different flavours of the ice-cream which is also mixed with fruits.
Apart from the Ice Cream they offer around three varieties of sweets like Khubani, Ras Malai, Gulab Jamun or Gajar Halwa.
If you have a sweet tooth, you wouldn't really mind spending close to 400 on a Buffet. The Buffet these days is available at 250 through online deals. 250 also happens to be its actual price a coupe of years ago !
A la Carte:
I wouldn't recommend Khao Galli for A la Carte as it will be too hard of your pocket. The dishes aren't new and are priced above 200, a simple roti will cost you 40 bucks, a plate Biryani for 250,the ice cream (any flavour) is available at 75..
I will give its buffet 3.5/5 and A la Carte 2.5/5 and overall 3 on 5.
I believe they are capable of doing a lot better if they become a little more creative on the food front.
*Thanks for Reading!~
Pleasant Week Ahead.*
