I personally have good bondage with Khaleej Times for a simple reason that my stay in UAE was made possible by the news paper.  Like most of the job seekers, me too came here as a visitor.   Only having few degree certificates, few experience certificates (which does not had much value in the market) and inexperience from the jobless home state called Kerala.   Like most of the visitors I prepared a CV (I heard the words Curriculum Vitae from here otherwise I heard it as bio data).   I sent my 1 page CV to various advertisers in the Situation Vacant column for about 1 month but could not succeed in getting even a single call for an interview.   No need to ask if I was getting the July summer heat or did I start worrying.  (Eventhough my brother in law was here to support I was feeling restless and getting more anxious.)   I was hopeful of getting a job and was confident of doing any job if get a chance…but chance didn't come to me.    However I cannot imagine myself returning without getting a job.   One visitor to our room give the idea of advertisement in news papers and I immediately placed it in 2 leading English News Papers, Gulf News & Khaleej Times.   I was pleasantly surprised to get 5 to 10 calls daily from various companies where 2 or 3 interviews were fixed.   Even with my broken English, lack of experience and zero exposure to technology I manage to find a job and get my residency stamped within the first visit itself.    If you cannot forget the first love in your life…I cannot forget the first job I got abroad as well.  (Don't ask me if I am married to my job where I know I am married to it and trying to get a divorce in the first possible time.  But I like her very much and keeping her for the time being.)

I am sure the paper is giving life to many such dreams daily in addition to all other routine job of supplying news and work for social change.   (The web site is a beautiful extension of the news paper with an instant reach where the quality remains intact.)

Staying in UAE knowing local news, News from Indiaand news of the world was not easy that time.  Khaleej Times was my favorite for its coverage of Indian news.  Dedicated pages to Indiawere the special feature of KT.   In depth articles on Indian politics and socio economic conditions along with a good editorial which speak on local and international issues.  You can read columns by the like of MJ Akbar & Barkha Duttfrom various countries and places.  Staying in abroad, those articles help you to see various aspects of issues and help to have a stand of your own.  Their Editorials are good too.  (You can read their archived editorial in the web site as well).  The paper also covered the world news well.

Along with news come information and contacts which can make your life easier.  Classifieds is one section which covers all and sundry needs of you.  Buying a house, renting a house, getting an accommodation, moving things from place to place, educations, vehicles, matrimony, pets, lost and found…you name it you can reach to people in the distance of a call.  This feature is maintained in the web site and remains very helpful.

Sports News, Cricket scores, pictures, interviews, articles…there is sufficient coverage on all areas of sports.

If you are into business, especially in real estate or in vehicles you can have a close look of the advertisements and get a lot of opportunity.   Stock exchanges across the world, various share performances, shipping movements...there is lot more the news paper offers to increase your wealth.  Latest  business news and analysis by professionals make sure your business knowledge is updated.     Gold rates, exchange rates of various currencies and lot more.  (Click on business option on the web site and you get samples there too.)

City times & Weekendis there to feed your Entertainment needs, supplying good number of interviews that too archived for future read as well.  You will find a good number of Indian celebrities here too.  These are for variety readers to enjoy and see life through an entertainment mirror, where City Times is more enjoyed by Indians.   Thursdays and Fridays are  heavy with all the additional offers and additions.
