Firstly, it is not for people who feel cleanliness and quality food must be there everywhere because Kemmanagundi is a secluded serene place lacking such international standards. You got to lose yourself in such places to find your inner self.
Philosophy aside, I have visited Kemmanagundi twice - once with colleagues and second time with friends. Stays are not that hygienic, nor is food. But what sets this place apart is its unmatched natural grandeur. Z-point gives an excellent view of the surroundings. There is a government guest house, looks great from outside, but I have never gone inside. We went for trekking to shola forests(only grass on hilltop). We came across a mini waterfall in which we played, and I fell and hit my head on rock. We went ahead and on the hilltop, we could see wild buffaloes grazing at a distance, and we were afraid that to prey on them, carnivorous animals might come and we quickly descended past the waterfall and made our way back to the room.
I think they were doing mining or something previously in Kemmanagundi, the indications of which you can see all around.
