Continuing from the Chopta review: had to write it here as previous was exceeding the word limits :) Next stop: Sonprayag, some 60 kms or so - 6 km before Gaurikund.
Reached here around evening tired and after some timepass, had dinner and went to sleep to start early for the trek in the morning.
Welcome to Gaurikund, it was bigger place than Sonprayag, normally people stay here because it is more populated and crowded here, we stayed in Sonprayag because we had Birla Guest house booked (it is a nice guest house to stay with a river flowing beside and only you can go down and sit on the shore).
Now, Gaurikund felt like a huge concrete Mela, loads of people were there even in the off season, there is a natural spring here also, called the garam kund in which people take bath before going to the yatra, this plaace was very dirty, didnt feel like going inside the kund, Badrinath was relatively much better managed.
(Caution:Once you reach Gaurikund, you have to park car outside and then you go into the small town, you will meet lot of people offering your horses, baggi etc, dont do a deal with them, it can be much cheaper on the start of the trek.)
