:: KaZaALite - 2004 Latest Review! ::. Review on KaZaa

Some years back, I used a version of Download Accelerator which had a built-in search option for searching music and game files on the net. As soon as you clicked the 'Search' button, Download Accelerator would automatically direct me to it's homepage containing the name of the game or song I was searching. Then I could click on the song and download it for free!!!

Of course, all this happened only because free MP3 downloads were allowed on the net in those days. There were literally thousands of websites which offered free music downloads, Audiogalaxy and Napster, to name a few.

Then, I had to give my board exams and I being a computer addict, my dad packed off my PC and put it on the loft 'cause that was the only way I studied! One year later, after my board exam, I was literally delirious with joy because Dad connected my computer back again!! Finally I was going to be able to download all those songs of which I had made a long list over the year......some 87 songs!!!!!!

I immediately switched on my PC and powered up Download Accelerator, typed the name of the first song in my list and hit the 'Search' button, nearly bursting with excitement!!! The webpage was displayed as usual and I clicked on the song name, expecting my download to start immediately. But what was this?!!?!?

Instead, I was redirected to Amazon.com's website and was actually being ask ed to pay a fee to download my song!!!!! I was really shocked! I went to Google and searched for my song name but every website I went to only offered MP3s for a small fee!! Even Napster (beloved Napster, how I miss you! May your soul RIP!) had been shut down!!!

For a week, I was nearly in tears. I couldn't download a single song from the net unless I paid for it...and I wasn't about to do that!! Then, a friend introduced me tp a nifty little program called 'KaZaALite'. Little did I know then, that this beauty of a software would fulfill all my cyber dreams and desires!!!!

KaZaALite is basically a P2P (peer-to-peer) file sharing program. It is just the same as the hugely popular KaZaA Media Desktop but without all the spyware and adware and the junk that it downloads onto your computer! Also, the file size is small - 3.2MB instead of the 6 or 7 MB of KaZaA Media Desktop.

This program allows users to share any file they want by connecting them to the FastTrack Network. There are thousands and thousands and thousands of users connected to this network and somebody is bound to have the file you want! You can search for the file name and a list of users having this file pops up. You can click on anyone and you're are on your way to hours of free music and movies! You can even Instant Chat with anyone!!!!

Even as I write this review, there are 2,120,020 users connected to KaZaALite sharing 1,483,074,270 GB worth of files for free!!!

The howling success of this program is largely due to the fact that the files take almost no time to download, it supports multiple downloads, resumes downloads, has an extremely friendly user interface, and most of all, has no adware or spyware.

However, by downloading the music and movie files, you are infringing the copyrights of the artists and producers so keep that in mind before downloading.

In a nutshell, I definitely recommend KaZaALite to evrybody who thinks that the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) is nuts and artists have enough money and are not going to come out on the streets if they give a few of their songs for free!!!!!
