Farhaan Akhatar has once again proved that he is super-talented.  WIth Karthik Calling Karthik, he has proved that he is not just lucky by chance but he can rock the silver screen all time long  he is here to stay and create benchmarks which are going to be tough for others to jump over.

Karthik is a depressed, shy, not-so-confident kind of guy who cannot say no to anyone for anything and who just sticks on to his seat at his office.  The guy has no life i.e. no enjoyment, no girlfriend, no friends.  A series of embarrassing incidences break his emotional composure completely. Just when he is about to end his life in frustration he gets a call from no one else than Karthik himself. The films gets a sudden lift off here on, he gets help from his surreal self and life becomes all hunky-dory until one day, when series of uncalled for incidents again put his life in a mess.  but who is playing foul with him is the question that remains unanswered till the very end.  A very well kept secret climaxes with the film.  And this film is all about solving this puzzle.

Farhan as Karthik is great to watch especially with his punches be it when Deepika takes him to the pub and then to his flat or be it the train journey which ends up him residing in Kerala, I wont reveal what they are you just watch it and enjoy, I will not reveal those and spoil your movie.  In the second half his conversation with the telephone officer is hilarious.

Deepika also does well as Shonali, Ram Kapoor (yeah the same NDTV nautanki show frame) deserves a praise here, he will not be short of work in the coming days, Shifali Shah was perfect as psychiatrist .  With Farhan being praised umpteen number of times, I think the credit of all this and more goes to Vijay Lalwani, the debutant director who crafted Deepika Padukone into a perfect soft urbane role.  She is not loud and overboard plus the make-up and styling adds on to make her look petite (unlike her usual tall and broad look). The film flows on a straight plot with the focus on the unknown caller making it the perfect short call that everyone can attend to.  Also, Farhan and Deepika make a cut on-screen couple.

KCK is a cinema personified. There is not a single incident in the movie that has been shot without motive.  Be it the long black and white shots describing agony, or the uneasy tight shots that describe distress and the credit for this visual delight goes to the cinematographer   I think the cinematography of this movie is spot on.  The characterization is perfect. This film has its focus on every detail in its own subtle way, with a promise to keep you in rapt attention and at the same time seeking for more.  This film is not a disappointment. KCK is a paisa wasool movie than the self-proclaimed blockbuster released just recently you must be knowing which movie I am talking about.

This movie delivers what it promises (until and unless someone leaks it out to you).
