We were in Bangalore for five days recently during a busy trade show period.
Attempts to hire cars were futile as all the operators we called said that their vehicles were fully booked for the period. Meru and Easycab did not turn up when we called them. When we reminded them, they said that no cab was available! Not too surprised as this happens in Mumbai too.
Eventually we called 080 4346 4346 which we had seen printed on some city cabs of KSTDC. The call was answered promptly and the cab showed up, a clean, well maintained AC Logan with a uniformed driver who was very polite. The rate was Rs 15 per km which is the same as Meru and others. The driver knew his way around busy and congested areas of Bangalore well so we decided to use the same cab and driver for all the five days.
Every day, the car turned up on time and as usual, the driver knew the shortest, easiest routes. The daily rate is Rs 1500 for 8 hrs and 80 km. On one of the days we went outstation on a day trip @ Rs 10 per km.Though it is slightly more expensive than cars from private agencies, but at least KSTDC was reliable.
In Bangalore there is always a problem with car rental as we have experienced in the past trips too. We would not hesitate to use KSTDC cabs again on future visits.
