Showman as they call him here in Bollywood Subhash Ghai got some of the biggest stars of bollywood to act in this movie of his.
I was always fascinated by Ghai’s ability to direct big stars and bring out best in them, be it Dilip Kumar or Sharukh Khan.
The best thing what I find unique in Ghai’s direction is the picturisation of group songs. There is no one near to him in this department, though I think he needs to improve his editing skill very much.
Now coming back to Karma, the story of the movie was not totally new but the presentation made all the difference making it one of the biggest hit of it’s time.
The story evolves around Dilip Kumar and his mission to put an end to Anupam Kher’s mischievous plan to rule on India.
Dilip kumar plays the role of IG of jail whose complete family is destroyed by Anupam Kher just because he slapped him when he was in his custody.
In this he takes help of three criminal who are charged with different IPC code. Viz Naseeruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, and Anil Kapoor.
The rest of the story is how Dilip Kumar trains all the three men to fight against Anupam kher.
Everyone excelled intheir respective part but the surprise and the best was Dr. DANG characters played by Anupam Kher. He was absolutely brilliant in this movie. But this days he seems to avoid playing villians role and do some light comedian role which I feeel is not his expertise, he is best as Dr. DANG kind of role. I wish he do such kinds of role again and again.
The songs and female lead were ok but they didn't have much part to play it was Dilip Kumar and Anupam Kher all the way.
I would love to see it again maybe on this weekend.
