Its all about winning your Audience !. Review on Kal Ho Naa Ho

Lock kar do !! Public speaking is all about keeping your audience enthralled. The contents do not matter sometimes. Its definitely all about how you play on the minds of your listeners.

There are actually two important aspects to the issue :

1. Analyse yourself

1. Analyse the audience

A coin always has two sides and both are important for forming a piece of metal to be a coin. Similarly, one needs to be comfortable with himself for being a speaker and later need to comfort the audience with his speech.

Me, the speaker :

A. Overcoming the basic fear talking :Get hold of something which looks like a mike and stand before a mirror. Have a look at yourself. R u looking comfortable, r u looking suitable to talk to the audience! If yes, Bingo. Read B. Otherwise, watch the news channels and see the way the politicians stand and deliver the speeches day after day.

B. Learning about the occasion for speaking :Its always better to keep your mind the occasion for which you are asked to speak to make the relevant preparations. Yes, this is all about preparing yourself for the occasion. If you are baap in the subject on which you are going to deliver the subject, then look at C. Else, Go to Sonia Gandhi's Secretary, he knows how to prepare speeches for the occasion that are not known to the Pristine lady.

C. Rehearsal :Remember, the school time Elocution competition when we used to take that piece of paper in hand for repeating in n number of times, to make sure that we do not forget the sentences in between. The rehearsal is important for making oneself confident and not necessary to remember all the speech.

The Audience :

You might have excellently done the A,B,C above, but what matters is performance on the D hour. You might have overcome the fear of talking to larger audience, learned the occasion wonderfully or mugged up speech very well, but what matters is communicating and making the audience understand what exactly you are talking of.

The only point that is to be remembered when you are before the public is to understand the ground realities of the very occasion. What are these realities ?

Have a look at the audienceTry to gauge the kind of audience that is before you. The formal but quick analysis of the audience gives you an idea about the way you are communicating to them, the subject that you are going to touch upon.

Know the timewhat is the hour of the day that u r given to talk. If it is the 2?0 clock in the clock when ur audience is eager to have a blast at the food, don?t stretch the topic. Talk to the point, but don?t bore them by to the point speech of yours.

Finally, contents of yr speechSab kuch kar liye, lekin contents pe dhyan nahi diya to gayi bhains pani me. I just spoken about talking to the point. How can one talk to the point ?

a. Localise yr speech :Try to use the language, dialects that ur audience understands. Don?t use English when u r talking to some gav ki janta. Y r not from Gandhi dynasty where people simply come to see and touch y. Try to simplify the subject by embedding the examples from the daily life of your audience. Laloo Prasad Yadav is not respected well with intellectuals from Suburbs, but he is major hit in his counterpart and during his rallies, because he speaks what the audience understands.

b. Use humor :Now a days, people are more responsive to the humor. Don?t y get bored during the Awards show when some beautiful lady speaks some garlandish English. But, that person call Jaspal bhatty, Javed Jafri comes and u come alive suddenly. Humor plays a major role in commanding attention of the audience and well retaining their attention when they seem to be getting bored.

c. Speak from heart :This is d important of all. Always speak from the heart, the more are chances of your message going to the audience in a powerful manner. If you don?t know, how to speak from heart or you can?t speak from heart, try to learn about pretending as if you are speaking from heart.
