My first reaction after the movie got over was, "Is this still 2006?” Yes, this movie goes on and on like a typical Saas Bahu serial. .

Dream star cast, Karan Johar movie after a long time, shot in New York and a lot of pre release hype...So is it worth the wait? As per me No.

Moving away from his candy floss stories of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and K3G, Karan Johar tries to deal with a very mature and touchy subject of Marriage and relationships. I won’t go into the details of the story as it has been narrated often here.

Characters are not well defined and are sketchy. The script is really poor. The reason for lack of Passion in Rani towards AB is not clear. SRK's character is full of negativism so you wonder why Rani would leave a loving and caring AB for SRK. In fact, AB and Priety had enough reason to look outside their marriage rather then other way round.

About the performances, Amitabh stands out as a fun loving, "Live Life King-size" person. His expressions in certain scenes are outstanding, dining table scene and the deathbed scene notably. Abhishek and Rani also deliver a very good and measured performance, while Priety doesn’t really have a role in the movie. SRK is his usual hamming and overacting self.

If you look at SRK movies, it follows a simple single line formula..."Hero loves Heroin, but Heroin does not belong to him. Hero goes on to woo her and finally marries her". Now think of most SRK movies and you will find this formula applies with some variation somewhere. Darr, Dil to Paagal hai, Kuch Kuch.., DDLJ, Kal Ho Na Ho, KANK, Veer Zarra, Chalte Chalte etc etc

The Music is decent, Mitwa and Title song are outstanding while Rock and Roll and Where's the party songs grow on you.

To summarize, this smart alec comment I heard after the movie got over, puts things in perspective

"This is movie about marriages made by a Single guy rumored to be Gay".

Feel free to leave a comment and ofcourse rate it too.
