Kaante is about six men residing at Los Angeles. The six men army are

Major (Amitabh)

Ajju (Sanjay Dutt)

Mark (Suniel Shetty)

Baali (Mahesh Manjrekar)

Andy (Kumar Gaurav), do you remember who Kumar Gaurav, he is the same who has a fantastic debut hit in the form of Love Story.

Mak (Lucky Ali)

All the six have have criminal record, hence when any crime occurs, anywhere in the city they are the one who are first summoned to Police Station. Sanjay Gupta has tried to prove that it is not only Indian Police but even the police in Los Angeles never try to hunt for the real culprit but they always first nab the persons with previous criminal records and try to finish the case fast.

However hard these six try to lead a honest and straight forward life one or the other case keeps on dragging them to police station. Fed up with this attitude of the police force they decide to rob the Bank where the police officials have their account. They even succeed in robbing the bank.

However the moment they step out of the bank police surrounds them and firing starts and in course of firing Mak gets injured. Major carries him to their hideout and treats his injury. In the meanwhile Ajju and Bali brings with them the police chief and starts torturing him. The police chief informs them that one among the six is a cop who has informed the Police about their plan to rob the bank.

Who is the cop, whether it is Major, Ajju, Mark, Andy, Mak or Bali? Whether the other five gets the share in the money robbed from the bank? Whether they escape from the hands of law? What happens to the one who is a cop? Is he also given his share? All these questions will be answered in Kaante.

Kaante though it has a weakness in the form of poor storyline, but this weakness is overshadowed by brilliant performance of each and every character. Editing and excellent camera are good cover up for the weak storyline.

Over all Kaante is a fantastic movie with great performance and technical effects.

Performance wise there is no need to say about the performance of Amitabh, Sanjay is as usual, for Suneil this is a good role which he has not performed so often, for Kumar Gaurav Kaante can prove to be a good comeback vehicle, Lucky is totally different from his character of Sur, of all the six the person who has done extremely well is Mahesh (Vaastav) Manjrekar. The mannerism of Bali is just amazing. Mahesh has performed the role of a stammerer with perfect ease. Rati Agnihotri though she has a very short role as Major's wife she has done justice to the role given to her. Malaika has nothing to perform except for exposing as much as possible in the short time given to her.

Music by Anand Raj Anand is just bearable. To sum up in short watching Kaante is VFM (Value For Money) Kaante can be seen just for the performance and technical aspects of the movie.
