Before I get into the review, let come straight to the point, whether movie is worth watching or not? and whats my opinion.... well, Movie is not really worth watching, but if you have nothing to do.. then watch this movie one time.. its a movie which you should watch one time, but its not worth watching again and again.
KAAL, movie has got a hidden message, which they have openly stated in a movie, but they have miserably failed to convey hidden or open message to the viewers. But those who have catch the message and understood the message in a movie, I am sure will give it a thought once in a while.If you are looking for a good entertaining movie, then this movie is not for you, if you are looking for a serious movie, then this movie is not for you, but if you are just getting bored, and want to do time pass, got some extra couple of bucks, and want to see a show piece girl screams, wants to do a tiger safari, wants to see dirty leg of Esha Deol, want to see Malaika Arora Khan, Shahrukh Khan, and a mini skirt show piece girl, then this is the movie for you. But as I said.. it has got a nice message in a movie and its movie to watch just one time and not more then one time.
I was at Pune for some work.. on Sunday was free with my friends, so we decided to watch a movie at Inox (Pune), and ended up going for a movie Kaal.
Kaal is produced by Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan(SRK), acting by all actors are pretty decent specially John Abraham improved on his acting, Vivek Oberoi not so great, but as per his character's attitude in a movie he performed it pretty nicely, Lara Dutta is just a show piece and nothing else, Esha Deol she didnt improved much but you will see some improvement in her acting, and Vishal is really notable, nice acting by him, Ajay Devgan... nothing to say about him.. but have written about him down in the review.
Direction and Story: Movie is directed by Soham and he has also written story of the movie, direction of the movie is nice for the new comer director, but I dont see any story in a movie. Movie seems to just stretched... no story I find in a movie but one time to watch movie.
Music and Background Score: Salim Sulaiman is the music director of the movie, Sound effect and Background score is amazing, its a new type of background score which really gives you feeling that you are in a jungle, but sometimes it just sleeps. Music in songs is nice.. specially Tauba Tauba song, and Nasha Nasha.
Acting:
Ajay Devgan: He has proven that he is already a great actor, and his acting in a movie is same as always.. great acting, but nothing innovative... but the makeup done on him will remind you of Ajay Devgan in Kaache Dhaage; He plays a role of KALI PRATAP SINGH but, I really didnt get it, why the Hell Ajay Devgan has started playing roles of SOUL???, After Tarzan The Wonder Car movie.. he is back again in SOUL role, and it really doesnt suites him.. its like his wasting his acting talent.
John Abraham: His personality is very nice in a movie and in general, but he couldnt act well, but could do modeling very well... but in this movie he has proven that he can improve his acting skill, his acting skill has improved in this movie, but he still fails with the dialogue delivery, he has played role of KRISH THAPAR.
Esha Deol: hmm.. well, she really didnt improved much in a movie.. but you will see a notable improvement in a movie.. but I must say.. it was really a bad introduction of Esha Deol in a movie with her dirty legs.. yuck... She has plays role of RIYA.
Vivek Oberoi: actually, I would say a nice acting by him... but not any improvement seen from his side... but as per the character's attitude that he has played.... acting done by him for the character is justified. He plays a role of DEV.
Lara Dutta: in a movie she is not more then just a doll.. or a show piece.. she wears very short skirts in a movie, looks sexy, and hot.. ;).. but acting wise.. forget about acting.. she just screams in a movie and nothing else. I hope to see improvement on her side in a future. She plays role of ISHIKA.
Vishal: He is very notable actor, he is in very few movies, but he has hosted many television shows, specially all Disney's TV Shows.. like Disney Hour, Studio Disney, etc... he has played very nice role in a movie of very innocent guy, and his acting is very nice... he plays a role of VISHAL.
Movie has nothing really great to show you except Tigers and few more animals - which I am sure you can view them on Discovery Channel or on Animal Planet, and a message in a movie.. actually three messages in a movie.
1 Message - Follow the rules, if you break one rule let it be less important rule, or more important rule, you are putting your life at a risk. - But they really failed to convery this message to people, because whenever they have tried to convery it... other scene which is more exciting covers this message, and its ignored by the viewers of the movie.
2 Message - Stop Haunting of TIGER, not just tiger but also other animals. - As they have put a dialogue in a movie which goes like.. TIGER never really goes out of his area,, i.e. out of jungle and start eating man, TIGER does that only when he/she doesnt find a food to survive, and they arent able to find the food because we kill Deer, Rabbit, etc.. etc... so stop killing them.
3 Message - Stop Cutting Trees or Jungles. - This is also one of the reason why animals are dieing, because of no food.. and TIGERS goes crazy and eat man :(.... so stop cutting trees.. but its also one of the reason for Global Warming. So plan trees as many as you can.. and stop cutting trees as many as you can :).
Conclusion: Watch a movie for special effects, and nice sound effect, for some animals and to get those three messages, and if you like to see Lara Dutta... nothing great in a movie.. no story in a movie.. but yet one time to see.
