After reading the reviews and interviews I was waiting to
watch this movie in theatre. But didn't get time to go for
a show.
While on my way to some work in a weekday, I saw this
poster glaring at me. The theatre is on the route I was
travelling and it can be reached in 5 minutes. Getting
ready and going to a theatre is not an easy task as it
consumes almost half a day in weekends. Finally I
decided to watch the show postponing my work.
I got out of my bus and rushed to the theatre, but I was
5-10 minutes late I guess. Missed the title cards.
Sandhya and Bharat were already in the
Madurai-Chennai bus.
Since I heard the story of the movie before, I had the feeling to walk away the hall any minute scared of watching any unpleasant scene. Imagine Sethu. God saven, nothing much was shown to my fear.
Lead Casts:
Bharat and Sandhya are promising as stars. Bharat will
steal the limelight and will have more offers to sign on.
He rides the scooty as any mechanic will ride, and as a
responsible man to take care of a girl, he did justice to
every frame.
And Sandhya will win all the critical accolades. It's
unbeleivable to see a girl who comes with ''Kurumbu
parvai'' for almost the 3 quarter of the movie and
suddenly transforms into a women with 1 year old kid.
She came out well as any girl will behave in that
Sadangu festival. She scores for letting her eyes
perform to all sort of emotions.
There are actors who unfortunately suits the character
the best remains best only for that role and they cease.
Like Abidha Kujalambal from Sedhu..
Supporting Casts:
There is the heroine's friend. From ''Indha vandiya
Ottunga'' to breaking down in front of the Chittappa, she
has performed knowing her limits.
And the hero's assistant boy. He deserved to be
mentioned for just this scene. The way he walking
heads up while helping the Chittappa gang to identify
Bharat's house.
Andha Periyamma, his friend, assistant film director,
pizza boy, the aspiring to be hero and villian characters,
the land lady and everyone. What a great pick they
were.
Music Director:
Brilliant. He has recognised his role in the movie and
performed to match with the script. To check the
originallity of the Music director, we have to wait for
more films. Signing the new comers is one advantage
for the Director, as he has more control over what he
needs then giving in for Musician's suggestions.
Director:
''A good script doesn't need hero and heroine. All it
needs is a character.'' - Not sure anyone quote this.
This is what I feel. Kudos to Balaji Sakthivel for
recording a masterpiece on the celluloid.
Verdict:
If ''Autograph'' was about the hero, then ''Kadhal'' is
about the heroine. But Kadhal has come close to the
Truth.
After thoughts:
How many parents will change their mind after seeing
this movie? 1 or 2. Many will say ''Avalai Suttu
Konnurukkanum''. Because every fault lies with her.
They will justify ''iva summa irunthirallalam''. ''Enna
irundalum namma Jaadhi pola varuma'' like?
Very few will get into a lateral thinking about the guilt
feelings they have imparted into a girl for her entire life
in the name of caste and creed. Do they realise how it
hurts?
The belief and the confidence the girls have to lead a
life in an unknown world to them. And to accept
everything for the sake of love. Imagine that bathroom
she goes to take bath who once lived a lavish life.
How men's view change in seeing a lonely girl? As
ThimsuKattai when she was waiting at the teashop,
probable prostitute when she was seen in that mansion
and finally becoming a sister when they realise a man is
behind her. That's the security this society gives for a
girl.
Kanavai thangi vazhum andha mansion mates. I just had
the same feeling watching Sona Kachi, a redlight area of
Kolkatta, the prostitutes den, while watching the
Mansion. The condtion of dwelling is not any better than
sona kachi.
