I had to use KG Hospital Emergency during the early hours as I had sudden onset of severe abdominal unexplained pain. When arrived to the Emergency the security guard requested assisted shifting using the wheel chair without any requests from us. They immediately wheeled me in followed by history taking. Seeing that I was in pain they quickly gathered my allergy details and started with immediate injections to relieve my pain. They assured me that the pain will subside in few minutes. When it didn't they proceeded with their next protocol after consulting with the senior duty doctors where I had further injections and IV. The duty doctors were professional and seemed to care about the issue. They asked me to pinpoint the exact location of my pain and further examined me to ensure that the pain was localized and could be replicated to the exact same location during their examination. They advised me that it could be multiple factors and it was best to proceed with a scan to confirm the diagnosis. I was transferred to have a scan and all the arrangements were very good. Before scan I would have preferred a small brief as to what to expect as I don't remember ever having a CT scan before and was a little worried about getting my breathing and holding up getting mixed up. Nevertheless, the scan team announced via microphone the instructions and it wasn't necessarily clear at all times as the speakers were a little less sharp. When I got my breathing wrong however they stepped in to correct me. In any case the scan went smoothly and the findings shared with Emergency duty doctors promptly. The doctors immediately started me on the treatment. I was still in agony due to the pain and no drugs seemed to work. When one of the staff noticed me suffer she approached me and asked if I was alright. When I broke down the duty doctors and those attending rushed to me and wanted to help. I asked them to relieve me of the pain. They advised me of their limits due to the impact these drugs could have on my kidney and there were some drugs they couldn't administer as my heart rate had dropped by then. However they assured me that they'll put me on alternate equivalent drugs and that could help with my pain. They topped it up and within minutes my pain subsided significantly. Once I was alright and stable they shifted me to the room which my family had the opportunity to pick and choose also. During my entire stay in the hospital I only received superb treatment throughout. The nursing staff and clinicians are some of the best I had come across. Even the most senior clinicians and consultants were very humanistic, humble and always clarified every little question we had constantly asked them. They were more service oriented and always took time to explain and help me understand what the issues were. All staff were friendly and courteus. I can't remember any single staff not being nice or unfriendly during my one week stay. Right from the cleaners, catering staff, nursing team, students, pharmacists and clinicians everyone seemed to do their best without any frown in their face. I was pleasantly surprised how nice they were despite their busy routines. Facilities were regularly cleaned and the sheets were changed every day. Sometimes it was hard to wake up early for a sheet change which could have been pushed a little later. Pharmacists delivered the drugs to the room and brought us the card machine to room to save us getting to the pharmacy and this was the best as its not always possible to leave the patient by themselves. Diet staff were very friendly and made regular diet recommendations and listened to the regular feedback and comments to feed me suitable food that I liked also. Only issue I had was the food was regularly cold as it was delivered in normal cups but written as flasks in the slips. Despite the dietician requesting these it seems the kitchen staff didn't listen or take on board of the missing flask and served hot drinks in normal cups which turned cold frequently by the time it was delivered and consumed. Occasionally on insisting they would serve in flasks which was a big relief as it was good to have a warm drink before bed. Few times I complained of cold breakfast or lunch and at those times they had replaced my food with food in hot pack which was very good as some food aren't easy to have it cold. Kitchen could have been a little orderly and listened to the dietician request to supply hot meals. Most meals were often cold or luke warm. I didn't complain much as it's not always possible to have decent hot food like home when admitted in a hospital catering for many patients. But this is something they could take on board if they want to improve their services. Facilities otherwise was very good and very lighty and airy rooms with everything needed in there. Hot water was on most day and at nights it took a little longer and not wanting to waste running cold water sometimes I used cold water. Everything was great during the stay and even the unused medicines were taken back and money refunded. Billing was easier too as we paid advance and when it needed top up they were very friendly and helpful. All billing, receipts, paperwork were sorted before discharge. Would have preferred someone to go through my Medicine review before discharge. Overall, I felt superb during my stay and I felt like I had contributed to my care when the clinicians and nurses took my feedback and comments during my treatment. I felt I was responsible for my health and they were helping me with that. I never felt they were in a different team to me. I felt we were all in the same team trying to combat my health issues. Very happy patient and it was almost like leaving a family behind when I got discharged. Very hard working staff but all of them at all times were smiling and service oriented. Surely they are some of the best health care professionals I had come across in India. I wouldn't hesitate to ever revisit this hospital and staff for any of my future needs. Highly recommended for their services. By the way, I have no affiliation with this organisation or any other hospitals in India. Happy to verify my admission and hospital stay so it doesn't look like it's a biased feedback. Thanks again to the wonderful team - Dr BKNM, Dr Thilak, (separate consultations and treatment - Dr Manoj Ramachandran, Dr Sathya Priya) and all the team members in your departments for your excellent clinical care which is in par with some of the top hospitals in the world. Great work and God bless you.
