I had purchased the JVC Everio Camcorder from a merchant establishment in Hong Kong for HKD 3300(approximately INR 20, 000) with an international warranty. One battery, tripod stand and camcorder case was provided along with the camcorder. I zeroed in on JVC, since it offered the Hard Disk technology recording at the best available price.
The camcorder is equipped with a 30 GB Hard Disk Drive which enables upto 30 Hrs of recording time and is equipped with the latest Konica Minolta Lens. The camcorder is elegant and compact translating into convenience while recording and handling it.
The 35x zoom of this camcorder is one of the best features as the recording quality is sharp at 30x+ zoom which is very rare for camcorders of this class.
The 2.7" screen of the camera rotates upto 270 degree enabling you to see the recording especially if you are recording your own self. The camcorder of JVC are equipped with Laser Touch Operations which facilitates ease in navigating the various menus and options available in the camcorder. However, it would be unfair to compare this feature with the Sony Camcorders which provides ease in navigating through the Touch Screen variant.
The battery of this camcorder can easily last for more than 8 hours(only in case of non-stop recording) One of the serious deficiencies of this camcorder is the low quality of photographs when the camera is used. The camcorder is equipped with a 1 Mega pixel camera which does not provide a great photos. Your mobile would be a better option to click photographs then this camcorder. Since the camcorder records the video in the Hard Disk drive, the recording is not in a continous mode. Each time you pause the recording, the Hard disk records the video as a seperate file. You need a Windows Movie Maker software to combine different videos recorded in the Hard Drive into one compact video.
The camcorder is highly recommended for individuals who desire high quality products at reasonable rates. However do carry your 5 mega pixel camera for photographs in addition to the Camcorder.
