Hi folks, I hope you visited the CastleMountains.com yesterday, after I introduced the site to you all. Well, today I could go out, as the weather had improved and turned out to be fine!
Actually, in Newfoundland, you can see and experience all kinds of weather in the same day. I’ll tell you how. In the morning, when you wake up, it will be very foggy. Then after sometime, you can see dark clouds in the sky bringing heavy rains, sometimes with hailstorms. Then after few minutes, we start getting snowfall. In less than half an hour after the snowfall, you can see bright sunshine! Along with all these we even had severe blizzard last week. That’s our ever-changing weather! Got used to this anyway!
Okay, let’s come back to where I left. I had a good time, walking inside the mall, looking at the fabulous decorations for Christmas in almost all the shops. I returned home with a bottle of Horlicks, along with some other grocery items from Walmart. Horlicks has been my favorite drink for many years. I like to have it at night before going to bed.
It is 12.15 a.m.here now. What a coincidence! I am writing about Horlicks, enjoying the drink at the same time! Horlicks as you all know is a popular health drink. It’s a prominent household name.
Horlicks is a nourishing malted food drink, which combines the wholesome goodness of malted barley, wheat and dairy ingredients. It does not contain caffeine or artificial colour, flavour or sweetener.
Horlicks is a quality nutritional product. In fact, Horlicks stands out as the No.1 malt drink in the whole world! Horlicks contains twice the calcium of a glass of fresh milk and is fortified with Iron and 8 key essential vitamins.
Here Horlicks is available in 200g, 400g, 1kg, and 2kg jars. I usually buy the 400g jar which is roughly about 7 Canadian dollars. I know in India, you get horlicks even in Elaichi (cardamom) flavour!
The brand Horlicks came into existence way back in 1873. In its earlier days, Horlicks was imported into the country from the U.K. It was manufactured in India in the year 1960. Calcium was added to the product in 1988 as a nutritional enhancement. In 1994, Horlicks was relaunched with the addition of vitamins and minerals, which made the product even more wholesome. New Horlicks with added nutrients continues the fine tradition of building greater value into the product.
Horlicks is made from milk, wheat and malted barley. The malting of barley through the natural process of germination releases enzymes. These enzymes break down complex carbohydrates to simple sugars that are easily assimilated by the body, making Horlicks easily digestible.
Horlicks has the following nutrients per 25g serving:
Energy 95 kcal
Protein 2.4g
Fat 1.2g
Carbohydrate 18.8g
Sodium 120mg
Potassium 166mg
While making a drink of Horlicks, you have to be careful in mixing to avoid formation of lumps. First you must add a little water to 3-4 teaspoonfuls of Horlicks. Then stir until it becomes a smooth paste. Now you can add hot milk to the paste and stir briskly to make a delicious Horlicks drink. You can even make malted milkshake, by adding Horlicks to your favorite milkshake recipe.
Horlicks has been shown to have a relaxing and calming effect, in preparation for a good night’s sleep. I agree with this totally, as I have experienced this myself. I have never had problem with sleeping, thanks to Horlicks! I also feel better and refreshed in the morning when I get up to get ready for the day ahead.
Horlicks is good for the whole family. I have seen kids eating Horlicks powder just plain. It tastes better as a drink.
Horlick’s slogan goes like this-Sleep Better, Feel Better. I think, those who have problem with sleeping, should try drinking Horlicks at bedtime. I am sure, they will really sleep better and feel better!
