Have you been in LOVE? I can see you glance through your beautiful doll eyes out of surprise… Have I been in love would have been an appropriate question. Either way it's us. I write for myself. You read it for yourself. But, there is a connection between us. The same reason is what makes me write… read… rate…

When every step that you take can be your biggest mistake, would you rather sit back and relax? When you know that the feelings are mutual and you really can't stop falling for the person, won't you take that step?

Today, I was watching this film that enthralled me to tell a tale. This was not the first time I happened to watch it but, I was pulled back to the era where I first saw this, on a hill station, when I hardly knew about love. I always knew there was something about these four letters… the four letters that kept many alive, killed numerous… Oh, that sounds like a poignant tale. This is not the tale that I wanted to share with you all…

This story took place in a beautiful hill station where their most important sporting event was the annual cycling race. Everyone has a dream. A person who doesn’t dream is as equal to a mortal waiting for his demise. So, Ratan(Mamik) had a dream… Ratan had his support from his father, to win the race that took place every year. The discrimination between the rich and poor was emphasized on Ratan and his friends who did their education in Model School, which was considered to be those who can't dream of luxury and all that…

Ratan’s brother, the romantic prankster(?) Sanju(Aamir Khan) lived in a dream world, like many of us. Like his brother, he too had dreams. His dreams were something which many of us(Guys) had at one point of time. Well, to be with the most happening girls(in our(Guys) language)…

The most beautiful character in the film has to be Anjali(Ayesha Jhulka), at least for me, for her simplicity and honesty. She silently loved Sanju who never bothered to even get hold of the vibes. All were cool and calm until Devika arrives… So, Sanju pretends to be a rich boy when Devika(Pooja Bedi) lands on the beautiful Dehradun where the sky was as blue as we see in the drawings… Where the birds chanted as a gesture to show the visitors that the place was special or rather, their guest was too important to be greeted.

The imagination and dreams flaws when Devika comes to know that Sanju was from Model School…

The tale ends in high spirits when Sanju realizes what true love is and what the importance to be honest…to follow dreams… to be responsibile… to make his father proud since he always wanted to see his son(Ratan) to be the winner of the cycling competition that was won by him(Sanju) ultimately due to his brother's accident(he was beaten up by his rivals).

*Do you believe in love at first sight? Alright, let me come to the song. Haven’t you heard this track a number of times? Are you still stuck to this track that never bore you? Is there any other well choreographed song that you can relate to this when the title'love' stays a step ahead?

Few questions… A sweet memory… that's what it brings to all of us…

My testimonial:

=========

  • It taught me to give importance to the inner beauty rather falling glancing through the worldly pleasures.

  • I had similar occurrences where I had given importance to Devika, when a couple of Anjali's were interested in me.

  • I followed the right path instead to drool over the girls and become a prey like how Sanju had been to.

  • I realized that, when you love someone, give your heart… soul…

  • We live for once… memoirs will be the only treasure you will carry alongside when you turn back and see how it was all since the day you started to dream.

Reviewer's Note:

=========

I have watched this film more than any number you could ever imagine. My mind was blank as when I started to review this film. I haven’t described in detail about the songs or the co-actors in it, but, have tried my best to recollect how it was brought a fresh insight to the rest of the directors at that point of time.

Before I conclude this review, let me ask you a question which might lead you to the gate which is about to wide open for you… Have you… I repeat…

Have you been in love? If so, wouldn’t you love to go back to the same old school gate that always remained open for us… won't you…?
