Jet Lite. Taking things lightly?

This was last week due to some emergency I had to take 3 flights in 3 days. One from Mumbai to nagpur, another one from jabalpur to delhi and the 3rd one from delhi to pune.


Here I will write about the worst flight from Mumbai to nagpur with Jet lite.


When the name is associated with Jet, you can be rest assured of the flight experience as I have traveled with Jet Airways many times on various sectors however this was my first experience with Jet lite.
As I reached the counter, I was informed that the flight was delayed by half an hour.
Had a cold coffee and waited in the queue. Once the flight arrived, we reached to the aircraft and got in to the plane. The important points are :

1. The aircraft:

The aircraft was neat & clean. Seats were ok, legroom and elbow room ok too. No complaints however uninteresting branding and colours painted on aircraft looks unappealing as compared to kingfisher or indigo.

2. The Crew:

Frankly the crew was boring. No warmth in welcoming passengers. I personally don’t look for glamorous Flight Attendants because I feel what is more important is professionalism, knowledge and smartness ( not looks but attitude). There was only one not so appealing air hostess and 2 male cabin crew who looked more like trainees.
The performed their duties very mechanically like safety instructions, distributing snacks ( paid ) etc.

3. The flight:

The take off was ok but the over all flight with a duration of 1hr. & 30 min.s was not very smooth. Having flown many times I can clearly make out the skill of the pilots. In the clear weather we experienced turbulence for nearly 15-20 mins. I give them benefit of doubt as I am not qualified enough to challenge them weather it’s the inexperience of pilots or real turbulence.

4. In flight entertainment:

Absolutely nothing. The old magazines. No regular information about the outside temperature, altitude of the place you are flying over. Think about frequent fliers who have nothing to do but kill 2 hours.

4. The landing:

The worst part was landing. It felt as if pilots were struggling to align the aircraft with runway. Trying to balance the wings and landing angle. Loosing and gaining altitude so suddenly that every one started looking at each other. Its important to remember that these aircraft's cruse at a high speed of 800-900kms per hr. and a minute mistake or misjudgment while landing can lead to disaster.
The touch down was jerky and uncomfortable. I took a sigh of relief once the plain came to a complete halt.

This reminded me of my hobby glider flying at pune there these sail plane pilots do a lot of struggle to do safe landing as the glider aircraft's have no engines and they depend only on wind and thermals.

Conclusion:

You can never judge an airline with just one experience and I would like to believe that there may not be many such incidences with them. The first impression is the last impression and I would definitely like to go for another airline on the same sector.

After this even the Kingfisher ATR aircraft which flew me from jabalpur to delhi was so smooth that I personally complimented the flying crew followed by Kingfisher flight from delhi to pune. ( I will write a review on kingfisher Red soon)
