In the past eight years, I have flown in at least 20 different carriers and to many places. I have chosen Jet Airways, three times. I am not going to fly Jet Airways again, just like I never want to fly in Northwest Airlines. Let us delve in to the reasons.
Ticketing/Attitude of Sales personnel
Well, I bought tickets twice at the counter upon my return from US and once through a travel agent. First time, my flight got delayed in US due to strong weather and ended up flying the next day. I had called the travel agent to postpone it by a day. I land in Mumbai and wanted to check-in for my flight. Trust me, the guy sitting there was literally hitting me, so unconcerned and so cocky. When I said that I wanted to talk to his boss, he acted in a sublime fashion. Then another gal came and listened to me, finally checking-in and landing in my hometown.
The next fiasco was in Chennai. I landed at Chennai at 3:45 in the morning, went to the ticket counter, naturally I was just having fatigued mind traveling in a Trans-Atlantic flight and all. I was checking whether I could get a ticket to my hometown using my hard-earned $$, the simple answer was “NO”. I was taken aback and since the flight was not until 11:00 AM, I chose to check into a hotel and got the ticket after paying in INR.
All in all, these guys don’t love to work. Their attitude towards customers/NRIs is so awful that made me think. Anyways I am paying money, why can’t I choose something good.
Check-in
The college kids who just pass-out their under-graduation with little training are in these counters. I have two big-bags of 70 pounds each and a check-in. The girl at the counter was so bossy and unyielding to listen. Other two times were OK, in general.
In-flight
It is one of the most-mediocre service, albeit being courteous and all. Again, they need to be trained and groomed. The Announcements were a college festival PA system. Go figure!!
Food
It is not world-class but OK.
Journey
It was pleasant. A great thing about India is the safety of Air-Travel. We have a clement weather most of the time.
Pricing and value for the buck spent
I would never recommend Jet Airways to anyone whatsoever. You are better off with something real good.
Hope that helps.
