8 years ago I wrote a review on Creative EP630. This was my favorite headset for many years and it was and still now one of the best bang earphones for the bucks available in the market. I have used approx 5-6 Creative EP630 headset for last 8-9 years. But today I am to write about another budget earphone/headset which is from JBL

Many of you already know about this small piece of wonder, i.e. JBL T150A and some of you must be using it. This is one superb headset priced very competitively. On Diwali days Amazon was selling it for as low as Rs. 700/-, but I was taken aback when I checked its price today which is now increased to a totally unexpected amount of Rs. 1799/-. I dont know whether the Amazon guys have gone mad or not.but this pricing is simply insane. Anyway, if you are tempted to buy one after reading this review, I would suggest to buy it later when the price gets reduced to Rs.700-800/- range.

Pros:

1) The first small advantage is, it has a Microphone so if u are using it with cell phones than u can take calls through it. This facility is completely unavailable in EP630.

2) Build Quality is no-nonsense type.mean to say it is very good. No lose ends and sturdy enough for day to day use. Durability-wise EP 630 was excellent. I think this one will also be very good( I have started using it very recently.like for 3-4 months).

3) 3 different ear tips are provided, large, medium and small. I am using the small one and it is very comfortable in my ears. For prolonged usage, u should not feel any pain using this headset. The'fit and finish' is up to the mark.

4) Its sound output ranges from 20-22KHz. So a wide audio gamut is covered.

5) It has Gold plated 3.5mm Lack so a better quality sound output is somewhat confirmed.

6) I will not demand that the cable is anti-tangled type.but it is way better than that of EP 630.

7) Lastly about the sound output. Here I wish to separately give some ratings for different sound/audio aspects which I experienced(please take note that quality of sound is a highly subjective matter, some love bass-centric output then some love higher pitches. And for me deep bass is a must especially in music) -

Bass-9/10, Mids-8/10, Treble-8/10 so Overall 8/10.

Bass is superior. It is deep, thumpy and punchy. Vocals came out good enough and if u are not satisfied then u can obviously increase the 1K, 2K bars slightly in our equaliser settings. For best higher frequency output, u should increase the 8K, 16K bars in equaliser nearly to max(for 10band equalisers only)

Cons:

1) Noise cancellation could be better.

I generally listen to Hindi Film songs/recent Bengali songs etc. I watch a lot of TV Shows on my phone like Game of Thrones, Homeland, Stranger Things, Breaking Bad to name a few. Also I watch many Hollywood movies. In each scenario I was deeply satisfied with this headset's performance. For your information I always use PowerAmp while listening to music and I prefer to tweak the'Equaliser' settings(thankfully PowerAmp has ample of those). I use MX Player to watch videos and here I dont tweak the sound(there are not too many options present either).

I am now using Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 as my daily driver and trust me I got deep bass, rich highs with this JBL headset. I was amazed by the crisp, clear and pristine audio quality I got(do keep in mind Xiaomi's native audio output is also of very superior quality).

After going through some of the reviews of Amazon, I would strictly suggest you to go for the original one coz some fake ones have already come to the market. I bought it from the seller'Cloudtail'.

For me, this tiny audio gear is way better than Soundmagic ES18. It is also better than Sennheiser CX180(I personally experienced both). It is on par, perhaps a little better than Creative EP630.
