This serial is ample evidence of this quotation

People are like stained glass windows -- the true beauty can be seen only when there is light from within. The darker the night, the brighter the windows.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The other day there was this program (oops programme) on Star Plus MAIL MILAP - which said”Hey morons when would you do away with the likes of Chaands, kasautiis and Sanjeevanis…. show casing only designer clothes, jewellery, the latest cars. How dare you assume that your audience is so stupid who can digest all those deaths and reincarnations and adultery to no end.”
So the Star Plus guys decided to tune in to other channels and guess what they found that the TRP (Truly Reviving Points) of Sony is high these days because of one programme.
They decided to watch a few episodes of Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi to know the trade secret and are still watching without acting! upon it.
Sony Entertainment did one good thing – without trying to reinvent the Wheel they have adapted the superhit Spanish serial - Yo Soy Betty La Fea (I am Betty the Ugly) –to Hindi.Wish all our movie makers also learn a few lessons and learn the art of making an adaptation of a foreign language movie.
So how did this serial manage to capture the attention of audience?
The different Storyline………
It takes all kinds to make this world and Jassi aka Jasmeet Walia (the unusual Punjabi kudi) is one of them.
She proves the conventional theory that “Clothes maketh a man” wrong.
After an MBA in Finance and with academic acumen Jassi searches in vain for a suitable job and when she is offered the post of Secretary, to Chairman Armaan Suri of Gulmohar (Fashion House), she accepts it. Initially everyone ridicules her for her appearance (I know next time you will think twice for making fun of that girl with oiled hair) but she takes it in her stride and proves to be a genius at handling business deals. Soon she gains the trust of Armaan and raises to a VP, Finance.
Initially the story builds up on how Jassi helps Armaan out of many situations – some official and some on the personal front. Jassi unfortunately falls for Armaan (remember the first crush on your boss!!) and dreams about him. But her dreams are shattered when she realizes the true colors of Armaan.
The ace actress…
I think the biggest achievement is by the protagonist Jassi (rumours tell us she is Mona Singh but I can’t believe -since when did Models learn to act?).She sports a larger than life specs, the fringe haircut, unshapely clothes and braces, as if shez born with all these.
She emotes beautifully esp. in the scene where Mallika insults her for her Engagement Arrangements.
Others……..
Apoorva Agnihotri, after a futile attempt at movies, does a splendid job as Armaan.
Rakshada adds the spice as the jealous fiance of Armaan and Parmeet Sethi is cool as the flamboyant Raj.
The Cons…
Some scenes are silly and outright stupid – the one in which Armaan is dressed like a woman (reminds u of Aamir Khan in ‘Baazi’).
The characters Pari, Nandu, Maddy and the gang of friends are the flies in the soup!! - with all that overacting.
Googli…
The story is now taking an interesting twist as Jassi has left Gulmohar and signed up a contract with a different Fashion House.Also enter the cutie character Purab (model Sameer Soni) who seems to have a twinkle in his eye whenever he sees Jassi.
Although people are impatient to see her transformation to a proper good luking Punjabi gal but I think it would be good to show that someone loves her for what she is at present and not after all her transformation (you might hate her like the altered Rekha in Khoon Bhari Maang) .
So will Jassi enjoy working with her new Boss as much as Armaan Sir?
Will Purab fall in love with Jassi?
Watch it to know what happens Next…
