What would you say after seeing the movie you feel the supporting actress deserves the hero more than the herione. That is what happened to me after watching Jab Tak Hain Jaan Yashji's swan song. What was supposed to be in store was a vintage romance. Love lost and found. But thanks to Katrina Kaif who plays Meera who trades with God for getting small favours the audience were not in a position to relate with her tragedy. Meera belongs to the high class society the part which Katrina as a model has carried out well. She looks spectacular in designer dresses. Her accent is perfect and she walks elegantly in business suites. But where the actress fails miserably is in portraying the Meera with whom Samar falls in love. Samar's Meera is supposed to be street smart, full of life, passionate about everything she loves and above all fiesty. While Sharukh as Samar plays the perfect lover boy we would have expected Katrina to atleast bring out some part of the emotions in her. But none came and even the reason by which she loses Samar is hard to explain and we feel sorry only for Samar and not for Meera.
Now enter Akira Rai in Samar's life who is planning to make a documentary on Samar's life as bomb diffusion expert. The camradeship of Akira and Samar is simply enjoyable. Sharukh looks tough as the bomb diffusion expert and Anushka Sharma ravishing as Akira. Their on screen chemistry is awesome and the viewer feels that Major Samar Anand should re-discover romance with Akira without going back to Meera. Anushka's power packed performance as Akira Rai makes the viewer more attached to her. We can easily relate Akira's pain of losing Samar to Meera. Anushka is very convincing in her role and she carries most of the second half of the movie on her shoulders.
Would like to conclude that Jab Tak hain Jaan is a one time watch. It will not be in the league of DTPH or Veer Zaara because its lead actress let it down. The romance in London between Samar and Meera doesnt make you mushy the way the song Are-are from DTPH makes. It wouldnt make you cry the way Do pal ruka from Veer Zaara. Most part of that romance is a beautiful picture deviod of any emotion.
