Story-JTHJ...swan song of late Yash chopra..which was supposed to be his last movie post which he decided to retire..but unfortunately he left the filmidom and the world for heaven above.
Its a story of Samar(a perfect name for someone who believes in spreading warmth and happiness around..just like the weather),Meera-daughter of a rich businessman and Akira-a super girl!
Samar falls in love with Meera while teaching her Punjabi songs and then a promise made by Meera with GOD comples her to leave Samar..cut to Ladakh(after 10 years)..SRK is a part of Bomb disposal sqaud and Anushka a discovery channel intern working on a documetry about "the man who cant die"
after much twists and trurns,Srk lands up in london again and and meets Meera for the second time.
What happens post that is a part of the climax.
Story written by Aditya chopra...its the age old love story written in a different way(Adi's style)..its nice but could have been pruned esp the climax section.
Direction-
Yashji was the ruler of romantic movies direction and this movie is no less..Its is swan song and he gave his heart and soul to it.It has the signature love story element typical of yashji.
It may not be of the league of Silsila, darr, daag or chandni but its definitely one of the best love stories of the decade.
Acting-
Katrina was the unapproachable and divine beauty which is the core of any yash chopra movie.she looked beautiful, but her character was too confused and shallow. The promise with GOD logic appealed to me(cos I think from the heart) but for rationals out there,it was something quiet unconvincing.
Anushka-as a dicosvery channel intern, her costumes and acting was perfect. She was the contemporary generation kid who belives in breaking up with BF at the drop of the hat.Emotions hold not much place in her life and Anhushka potrayed the character convincingly.
The real actor on whose shoulder the movie rests, definitely has to be the one n only King khan.I cant judge his acting skills cos he is beyond reviews and judgement.he belongs to a different elite class of actors.as a romantic actor,he proved his worth right from his Deewana days and he marks his stamp yet again.
i personally loved the army man wala character of the actor.he looked dashing and acted from his eyes. You cant control urself from falling in love with Samar Anand
Music-A.R Rahman's music was not used fully in the movie. The songs are not as melodious as any other Yash chopra flick. But!they are so beautifully placed in the movie that they sound melodious during the entire 3 hours.
And after watching the movie, you will for sure fall in love with the songs...they grow on you after watching them on screen.
Verdict-People say that its a 3 hour movie, which is quiet against the 20-20 generation's choice/patience,but I would say thats the silver lining ..you get to watch SRK on screen for few more hours!
3 stars for JTHJ..1 additional star for the JTHJ poetry.
So,final verdict-4 stars!
