Jaaneman, directed by Shirish Kunder, is a well-made entertainer that offers you value for money!Though most Bollywood love stories seem similar to one another, this film actually scores in one important department -- it does not resort to typical formulas we have been witnessing in the garb of love story, thus making it an experience to cherish.

The story begins with small-time actor Suhan (Salman Khan) coming to terms with his divorce from wife Piya (Preity Zinta). Unable to pay her the alimony she demands, he and his dwarf-uncle (Anupam Kher) devise a novel plan when they encounter the astronaut-geek, Augustya (Akshay Kumar).

Augustya has been in love with Piya since college days but is unaware about Suhan's relationship with her. Suhan believes that he wouldn't need to pay Piya any alimony if she remarries. And in Augustya, he finds the right candidate for that. Together, they head for New York where Piya lives and Suhan teaches Augustya all the ways and means to woo her.

The plan works perfect until Suhan falls in love with Piya all over again. But maybe it's too late because Piya and Augustya are already engaged and ready for marriage.

Shirish Kunder is a director to watch! He makes a thoroughly brilliant debut and not once do you get the feeling that this is his debut film The unique manner in which he directs the movie is immaculate and his command over comedy and drama both is exemplary.

He catapults the simplest scenes into something effective and delivers a movie that touch you somewhere. Especially the emotional scenes here are just so sweet ,you just fall in love with them. Also he deserves an extra mark as an editor as he maintains a superlative narrative compared to normal Bollywood films.

There are many scenes that remain etched in the viewers minds even after the show is over.

-All of the scenes between Akki and Salman which is no doubt the backbone of the movie.

-The narration of Humko maloom hain song in the flashback [Simply superb ]

-When Aman verma spills the bean about the letters.

-The interaction betwee Salman and his baby

-The climax .Simply hilarious .

Anu Maliks music is amazing and the picturisation of all the songs are a visual treat. The Humko Maloom hain is haunting and stays with you much after the film is over.Camera work is award worthy! The movie unfolds onscreen like a beautiful painting. In fact I have not seen such a colorful movie from Bollywood in a long long time..

Preity Zinta is a pleasure to watch. She delivers the right expressions, her dialogue delivery is flawless and of course, she looks gorgeous. Salman's character is one that is completely mass appealing and h plays his character with his usual style and panache. His screen presence is simply terrific and he is natural to the core.

But the real star of the show is Akki who is superb from scene A to Z.His best act till date ,he portrays the coward character with elan. His delivery and facial expressions are just brilliant and he displays the right amount of maturity needed for the role of Augustya .

The supporting cast in the movie have little to do however leave their mark in their various small roles. Anupam Kher and Aman Verma are good in their parts.

All up where does that leave Jaan-e-mann?A film that is targeted at the family audience, this one is a must-see!Its witty, original, funny, emotional and above all very very entertaing.

Ps-Not even a single review on it as yet.Shocking .Actually I saw both JEM and DON back to back and have to admit JEM is far better a film than DON!Do not miss it!
