Ittefaq had created a quite hype due to its success and response of the original 1969 movie of the same title starring Late Veteran actor Rajesh Khanna and actress Nanda. If we have a look on the remake of this movie , anyone can say that it is a horrible disaster in the name of remake. Seriously, it is a huge disappointment and serves as a blot on the original movie.
PLOT - Siddharth Malhotra plays the character of Vikram Sethi, who is a famous writer and a smart man under the shadow of evil thoughts who is charged and allegated under the double murder charges. Sonakshi Sinha who plays the character of Maya in the movie is a married lady who has an extra-marital affair. The movie takes a twist on the stormy night when Maya's Husband and Vikram's Wife are murdered and the case is handed over to the police officer( Akshay Khanna) who is as dumb as an amateur. Overall the plot is way too cheesy and at the end, the movie has a non-decent end . So thumbs down from the audience for the weak plot of the movie.
DIRECTION - Abhay Chopra is been unsuccessful in directing a decent mysterious and thriller movie. When you have got Big production houses like Dharma and Red Chillies, you need to take the advantage of the opportunity. But Abhay Chopra seems to be having lack of knowledge in context of the taste of the audience. As a director, he could really made this movie a PURE THRILLER, but kudos to his lack of knowledge.
PERFORMANCE - Siddharth Malhotra who is on the verge of the drowning career seems to be wasting time with his panface expressions. Looking at his last movies Baar Baar Dekho and A Gentleman, it seems as if Siddharth needs harwdwork on his acting skills. Sonakshi Sinha , continues her streak of weak performance. No disappointment from Sonakshi Sinha , because she has already ruined the expectations of the audience. This movie was created with the motto of saving the career of both Siddharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha, but indeed it got added in their flop list. Akshay Khanna should really try a different role , because it is the same as it was in his previous movie 'Mom'. Really Akshay Khanna needs a change. Overall poor performance by the cast.
SOUNDTRACK - The soundtrack of the movie is quite average with the only song the title track by Jubin Nautiyal. The movie could have been saved by adding some few soundtracks.
MY OPINION - From my point of view, there is no meaning in watching this movie. Instead of watching this lame movie, audience should watch the BBC series Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Honestly, there is no point in watching this disastrous and horrible remake.
